great chick lit: The bright green cover of the Dominant Blonde caught my eye, and I picked it up. Boy, am I glad I did. Lydia Gold's life isn't perfect. She's a little over weight, has a bad career and many dating disasters. When her current boyfriend, Abe, suggests a Caribbean vacation, Lydia figures he must be ready to pop the questions. Instead she discovers that Abe has embezzled millions of dollars from her family. When Abe doesn't return after a scuba dive, Lydia enlists the help of sexy rescue diver, Liam. Together, Lydia and Liam try to sort out what happened to Abe while fighting a mutual attraction. This book is smart and funny. A great way to spend an afternoon.
What a disappointment: I expected a light read, and got even less than that. Kwitney writes briskly and uses language well; I'll give her that. But the plot was so painfully predictable, the twists so superficial, and the characters so flat that I had a hard time keeping enough interest to finish the book. The sex scenes were absurd, really worthy of the cheesy series romances. In all, I could have spent my time and money in much better ways.
Great Read: I loved this book! I had read a little snippet in Glamour... or Cosmo... I can't remember. Anyways, I went out and bought it that day. It's a fairly light read and a pretty good plot. Not THE BEST book ever, but definitely worth reading.
A Very Enjoyable Story Line: This was one of those books that I had trouble putting down once I got started, it always leaves you wondering what's going to happen next. There's nothing like combining Humour, Love, and Mystery into a chic lit book !!
Not what I expected at all!: I am mostly writing this review because I was so irritated with this book! From the title and back cover I figured this book was in the light-hearted chick lit genre, only to realize that this book is the total opposite and not light-hearted at all! I am disappointed that the author chose to advertise it as chick lit, because in the end I wasn't even interested in finishing it. Be warned this is NOT a fun beach read!
