[.ca] Witness for the Prosecution of Scott Peterson (ISBN 0060799250)

Eye Opener:
It is good to read Amber's side of things. She is not a perfect person but appears to be trying to improve her life. This book details how much of a sick man Sott Peterson really is.

Don't Be Fooled:
This book was ghost-written. Had Miss Frey actually written this book it may have been interesting. It was written by someone who has previously written books, not by a first time author. I imagine it will be in the $2.99 bin quite soon. Borrow it from the library if you must read it now, or wait for it to be in the cheapie bin. I found it at a yard sale for .50 cents. Actually 1.5 stars

learning:
I read this book and thought is to be very good. Amber has been through a lot in her life and being a young mother myself I can see how easy it could be to be swept up in a man that is willing to give you attention, luckey for me I am married. I think the fact that she talks about her religous ties shows us that she is not all about the money. She is a very misunderstood person. People are very negative toward her and i don't think they should be. This book is Amber's side of the story so don't expect much else. i am busy reading other books about the case to learn more. i did follow the case but want to learn every point of view there is. Amber is a strong woman who made some mistakes. Lets be thankful she is not asking us to fix them for her!!!!! This book is a great read!!! A must for anyone intrested in the case!

Not my usual thing, but . . .:
I for one was enthralled with the Scott Peterson case. Amber was a victim of betrayal, secrecy and lies. She paints a true and valid picture of how so many men are these days, lying about their marital or relationship status. There are so many works of fiction out there that deal with gruesome deaths and family turmoil (think McCrae's "Bark of the Dogwood" or any of the other bestsellers), but I wanted to read about the event that has had the country glued to the TV, and so I picked up "Witness." I found this book to be thoughtful and insightful. She was in the wrong place at the wrong time but ended doing to right thing in the end by helping the authorities. Give her a break instead of the continuous bashing. And, hey, so what if she makes money off the book, you bought it didn't you?

Not bad for a first:
I will give Ms Frey some credit : she did a pretty good job at writing this book. She's not a writer but you can read this book easily. Ms Frey gives us a lot of information about her relationship with Scott Peterson, accused of murdering his wife, Laci. I certaintly could have done without all the talks about God and religion. But Ms Frey needed something to help her deal with her guilt about her relationship with Peterson and if she found solace in religion, good for her. But I did not need to read about it every other page. The book is short and straight forward. We find out about some of the conversations that Ms Frey had with Peterson after his wife had disappeared. It sure explains why he was convicted of the murders! If a guy can stand at his wife and child's memorial service and talk to his girlfriend, telling her he's in Paris, well... Not too bad but could have been less about God, more about the case.
