As a teacher, I read this to my gr. 2 class and they loved it! Told entirely in rhyme, the plot unfolds as Nathaniel discovers that the attic in his grandfather's old house is magic. When Nathaniel touches an old pirate's hook he finds in the attic, he is transported through time and lands on Bigbeard's ship. Nathaniel has no way home until the object he has touched is returned to its rightful owner. Each Sunday, when Nathaniel's visit with his grandfather is over, his grandfather gives Nathaniel a stamp and the book has a stamp for children to keep and collect. A brilliantly written book!
