Witty, scathing.: This book is what Camile Paglia would have written had she good manners. Kipnis writes in a way that zeros in on the things that make the female persuasion embarrassed, and illustrates her point in a way that shows that this behavior is not because we're easily duped; it is because there is just too much to consider in life from the second the doctor says, "It's a girl!" This book is persuasive, amusing, and above all, intelligent. The only problem is it's a little short - Kipnis' arguments are short, and punching, so you have to read carefully to truly understand her point.
