From Amazon.com: Written for early readers, The Beginner's Bible includes 95 classic Bible stories, rewritten in a language children can understand. From the baby Moses ("A Basket Boat") to the baby Jesus ("The Most Special Baby"), from Noah ("The First Rainbow") to David and Goliath ("The Giant"), children are introduced to timeless stories and basic biblical concepts. Beautiful illustrations throughout. (Ages 4 to 8)
Not just for children: Being an illiterate black man, I have always had aspirations to read the Holy Bible in its original form. Two weeks ago, I went to my clergyman Vicar Dibley to describe my dilemma, and he recommended this highly illustrated version of the text, "The Beginner's Bible" of Timeless Children's Stories. But since I have opened its pages, a miraculous change has come over me. While reading the pictures about God's week of creation, I stared at the intermingled North American woodlands and African savannah wildlife, googled at the lustful nakedness of Adam and Eve, and laughed at the creatures' invariantly buggy eyes. However by Prophets, I was beginning to pick out names like David, Timothy, and Ezra. When Jesus was born, I no longer even identified with the childish colorings, and every word was clear to me. By the last page of Revelations (which, I am told, is not even present in "The Beginner's Bible"), I felt like my undertaking had completely transcended the text on the page. How did this happen? I can suggest no alternative but godly intervention: a true miracle in a modern age. Today, I can firmly claim to possess three, possibly four times the intelligence I had upon receiving this book, and others have noticed the revolutionary difference in my behavior as well. God has given me a chance to eclipse my Negroid heritage, and I intend firmly to use it by reviewing the book which made it possible. Now that I have spread the Good Word, my part in God's plan should be coming to an end, and I will not be ungrateful should my enlightenment fail. His love is both copacetic and boundless.
My pre-school boys love this!: My boys are literally addicted to this book! They love searching for the stories they like the most, and they can easily do this with the many bright, colorful photos. I was amazed last week when one of my pre-school sons carried the book over to my visiting neighbor and started "reading" the stories to her. Almost word for word. They choose this regularly over their many other favorite books. And the BEST PART? The stories are very short, so you can stop when it is bedtime, or keep going if you've got some time to play with. WAY to GO, Beginner's Bible!
Wonderful bedtime stories - companion to SCRIPTURE ROCK!: Goes well as a bedtime story to calm them down after they get hyped up singing songs from SCRIPTURE ROCK!
Great for kids!: Introducing young children to God is simple. All you have to do is to read them this, then, when they're old enough, they can read it by themselves, and alone they will learn God's precious Word. "The Beginner's Bible" is a summary of the Bible stories told especially for children and toddlers. With this book, they can learn all they can about the morals taught by the Bible. As you may have though, this book is a nice, little collection of classic Bible stories, accompanied by cute, little illustrations. With beautiful pictures and a text in told from a child's language, this Bible is one that your child will enjoy - forever!
Great First Bible: This is the first kids' bible we have bought. Our 6yo daughter loves it. She reads it at night before bed and also takes it to church. The stories are easy for her to read and understand, and they are written in a fun, interesting way with great illustrations!
