Women of Faith Study Bible offers a feminine perspective on an age-old text. In numerous places, the editors insert interpretations that celebrate and elevate women's status in the Bible. "Some have said that in times when men are spiritually weak God uses women instead," the editors write in the Book of Samuel. "It is probably more accurate to say the deeds and faith of women are simply more apparent in those times. For the Lord gives gifts and callings to all people." In the opening pages readers will find a "Weekly Studies Index" that references the Old and New Testaments with metaphorical themes such as "Uncharted Waters," "Are You a Bush or a Tree?" and "Jars of Clay." It also offers almost 80 full-page "Character Sketches" that profile women from the Bible, such as "Eve, Mother of Discontent," "Jezebel--Bent on Evil," and "Noah's Wife: Along for the Ride or a Partner in Adventure?" (The latter sketch tries to imagine the thoughts and actions of this almost invisible wife: "Perhaps she resented all the extra work Noah's obsession caused.") Other features include a timeline of women in the Bible, a genealogy of Jesus, and a dictionary of biblical terms. One disappointment is the thin paper stock, limiting its shelf life and making it fragile for a daily reader. I LOVE THIS BIBLE:
This is a wonderful bible for reading and studying. It has extra things along the edge of the pages. some are explaining the scripture or just pointing something about them out and the other things are quote. For example ALTHOUGH TODAY HE PRUNES MY TWIGS WITH PAIN, YET DOTH HIS BLOOD NOURISH AND WARM MY ROOT: tomorrow I SHALL PUT FORTH BUDS AGAIN AND CLOTHE MYSELF WITH FRUIT. CHRISTINA GEORGINA ROSSETTI 1830-1894 I think it is a really neat Bible.

Great Study Bible:
I bought this for my girlfriend and have gotten to flip through it. I think the NIV translation is the best. This bible has great features and is great just as a study bible but is even better having inserted little passages that relate the scriptures to women.

Good for beginners:
I have been reading the bible for a while and I got this one as a gift. It has a lot of inspirational quotes and some scripture in the margins. Only half the page is the actual text of the Bible. The opening descriptions of the books are not very helpful but I like them to include the jist of the book. It's very womenly and talks about different famous women. It's colorful and with pictures of women and flowers. The subject guide in the back only has page numbers for subjects.

A wondrous bible for women and the men who love them!:
I saw this bible on the shelf at a local religious bookstore. It caught my eye, when I wasn't looking for a bible. I leafed through it and was immediately entranced by the center-page text in blue, the simple but not stupid notes that really offered me new perspectives (I've been "into" scripture for decades now), and the prayerful but not sappy tone throughout. For women who want a comfortable bible fit that will still challenge, this is the bible. For women who want a bible they will actually pick up and read and use, it is for you. A previous reviewer mentioned purple leather. I'd love to get one of those, Amazon!!! I, too, love purple. The one I bought is great, though, and as it was a bit shelf-worn, I asked for and was given a discount.

A Gift for Women:
My best purchase ever! I really had trouble with the chuch and women's issues, and finding this Bible helped to bring women upfront . All the women in the Bible are pointed out and there are relevant studies around them. I think women are more than capable of being leaders within the church. Young girls and women, need women role models to look up to. I also recommend 52 women of the bible devotional.
