Fantastic! Made me feel like a true local!: Before heading off for a 5 day trip to Paris in August I stocked up on a couple of Paris travel guides, including Time Out, Lonely Planet & Let's Go on a budget, and by far this book was the best of the lot. As a student traveller in my 20's this was the perfect guide- the hotels listed were all affordable and uniquely parisian (none of that chain hotel nonsense, who goes to paris to stay in a hotel room all day??), the event and restaurant listings were a great mix of touristic and off-the-beaten path suggestions that made us feel like locals even though we were there for only 5 days, and got us away from the maddening tourist mobs. It also had several 'let's not go' sections outlining the sketchier areas in paris- something that is almost impossible to find in any of the other travel guides, which was definately important in our case being two single woman travellers. I found all the listings were current, (except for patisserie Gerard Mullot on rue de Seine who moved unfortunately :( ). Best of all, when pulling it out and reading it in the street, it doesn't look like a travel guide (just fold over the cover)! All in all a great find, definately made our trip!
