Great starting point for radiology residents:
Following the quality standard set by the Radiology Requisites Series, this revised version of the original publication presents the radiographic evaluation of the gastrointestinal system in a time-efficient, yet comprehensive manner. It certainly prepares the groundwork for more detailed texts. The book is divided in eight chapters of moderate length and plenty of images to help solidify concepts. Although gastrointestinal radiology may not be one of the most sought out themes by the radiology residents, this book makes it an enjoyable experience.

The first two editions of this book were well received, so the earliest reviews for this 3rd edition were somewhat suprising and amusing at the same time. However, I do believe they require some response. One reviewer used the book review to promote a competetor's book. That was disingenious. Another reviewer thought it "a waste of time and money." This reviewer gives no sense that he or she had read the book and I have never seen "book reviews" used in such a spiteful and crude manner. Yet another says the book is "full of errors" but gives no examples. Another basic lack of civility that should have been corrected by his or her mother. While it is true that one illustration was incorrectly numbered, and there may be other omissions or examples of error, I am not aware of them yet. My only request is that reviewers show 1. they know what they talking about and 2. they show honesty and integrity in their reviews. I do not expect the Pulizer prize, but I do expect some civlity and intelleigent crique. I don't at all mind negative critic. That is to be expected and to be an author of any book requires one to have thick skin. But please reviewers, stay within the bounds of approprate and accepted form and make your evaluation, negative or positive, helpful and specific. Robert D Halpert MD
