History with a twist!: As far as historical fictions go, there are hundreds of titles to choose from. One thing you would notice, if you're into this sort of thing, is the severe lack of good Viking fiction. There are gawdy romances and silly takes on the Vikings that hardly do them justice. This book really took me by surprise. Yes, this is a book I judged by the cover when I picked it up, but I got lucky, as if Odinn himself guided me to it. The book begins well with a very old Thorgils Leifson being the subject of a priest's letter to his superior. Nice touch. Then the story begins. Ladies and gentlemen, if you're up on your history, you will find names of actual people mentioned. Actual events and battles are mentioned and described with incredible accuracy and detail. The manner in which the book is written makes the story enjoyable for anyone who is a history buff or just someone who loves a good story. It is easy to read and a great pleasure throughout. It will leave you wanting more and there is in fact more! Pick up the other 2 books that follow. You won't be disapointed. This was truly one of the best books I've ever read.
