A good introduction.: Gieskecke has written a good introduction to epidemiology in general, but focuses on infectious disease epidemiology and how it is different from the other fields of epidemiology (e.g., the victims of an infectious disease can also be the source for new infections). I liked the organization and structure of the book. This is a good book for the beginner, but not someone seeking a thorough grounding in the issues.
