[.ca] Lots of Love (ISBN 0340836814)

From Amazon.co.uk:
Fiona Walker fans (of whom there are many; sales of her novels are now heading past the 1.5 million mark) have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of book number seven. Finally, Lots of Love has arrived. The Walker trademarks are firmly in place--warm humour, harum scarum plots, eccentric families, pets and passion--but this time around she has introduced a new series of characters and a countryside location. Described by the author as "The Archers meets Dynasty", Lots of Love combines rural moors with a hearty dollop of sizzling, sexual tension. The setting is Oddlode, an idyllic (fictional) village in the Cotswolds and home to Godspell, the resident Goth, daffy local artist Pheely Gentle, and the sinister, puritanical self-styled tycoon Ely Gates. Surfer chick Ellen is the heroine and her love interest is the mad, bad and very dangerous to know Spurs Belling. Ellen has split up with long-term boyfriend Richard, (who unfortunately "never possessed one cell of X factor"), and is instantly wowed by the dashing Spurs. Spurs is "pure unadulterated X", complete with a "beautiful curved mouth" and "natural, almost feral beauty" and emotionally wary Ellen wants to avoid him at all costs, in spite of his fatal attraction; especially when the villagers warn her of his dark, mixed up past. The tension builds up for some 500 pages, with cold showers provided by the welter of sub plots and secondary characters. It gets a little over heated and convoluted at times, but Lots of Love is warm, funny and engaging--a welcome addition to the Fiona Walker canon. --Eithne Farry

Dissapointed after a long wait:
After waiting more then two years for my favourite writer to publish I was sadly dissapointed in her lateset effort. Purhaps married life has changed her outlook. There were no lovable missfits or any fabulous friends in this latest effort. Very upsetting- I had looked forward to a weekend off and this book, I would have been happier working then i was, reading this book.
