[.ca] The Solomon Sisters Wise Up (ISBN 037325041X)

very good, could have been a bit better:
Ally and Sarah are the two daughters from Bart Solomon's first marriage, which ended when he left them for Zoe's mother. After 25 years, he leaves HER for Giselle, a 25-year-old friend of Zoe's. This is the backdrop of the problems each woman experiences -- 34-year-old lawyer Ally finds her husband cheating on her with her Pilates instructor; 29-year-old Sarah finds herself pregnant by a man she barely knows, and Zoe, who runs a sucessful business as LA's "Dating Diva" finds herself cheated on. With nowhere left to go and their father planning a wedding, all 3 end up at his NYC apartment --- Zoe to find her mother in NYC, who plans to disrupt his wedding to Giselle. While well-written and enterprising, drawing good characters and situations, Senate nonetheless uses pat endings. Disappointing in that light.

If you like fairy tales...:
I kind of liked the idea of three sisters in crisis living together again at their absent dad's place. I liked the characters and the way they differently related to the issues in their lives. That is, the first half of the book is very entertaining. But then, everything falls into place like a fairy godmother with a magic wand has come through, and the second half is unlikely, with a sickeningly happy happy ending. And PLEASE hire better proofreaders: too many typos for a published book.

Excellent book!!:
Fabulous book, Ms. Senate has the separate voices of the sisters down. I don't have any sisters, but this book made me wish I did. I love the fresh look at life through three different points of view. Kudos to Ms. Senate!!

Couldn't put the book down:
Melissa Senate did a sensationl job with this story! I was compelled to keep reading, I couldn't put the book down and couldn't wait to see what the next chapter held. Having four sisters of my own, I grew to relate with all three sisters and it was wonderful how their relationships with one another developed throughout the story. They grew closer as sisters, became best friends and also helped change one another's lives. Thanks for a wonderful book Melissa!

A good read:
Meet the Solomon sisters. They come together with a secret. Read how they share their private thoughts and learn that it's ok that family can see your faults. They lean on each other and through their support each learns important lessons about herself. This is a definitely a feel-good book for the summer. By the end, you'll find yourself hoping for the best for Sarah, Ally, and Zoe.
