SOOOO FUN!!! A DEFINITE KEEPER!!!!!!:
Initially, when I read the back of this book..I found that I wasnt in the least bit interested....for some reason though, I picked it up and decided to have a looksey....and that was that..I was hooked!! What a fun story. Pendelton was so sweet and sexy..and Kit...oh Kit!! I have to say she was an original..what a strong personality..I was afraid Id hate her at first..boy was I wrong!! I just loved this..and the way that Pendelton proves his love for Kit is unbearably adorable!! The last 2 paragraphs of this book had me gasping in delight!! READ THIS!! You wont be sorry!

Pendleton is a keeper!:
It is down to the last 2 months of the 2 years set aside for Kit to find a husband before her mother's fortune is divided amongst charities. If she marries the fortune stays in the family in the hands of Kit's father & brothers. So the pressure is one. Up to now Kit hasn't found that TRUE Love she's been looking for. And if Dad hadn't run off all of her other romances this wouldn't have happened. He didn't think any were good enough at the time. It's a different story now. Pendleton is out to prove to everyone, especially his ex-wife and himself, that he can make it and be successful once again. He had it all once- but then things fell apart, so now he is having to start all over again. Pendleton has been hired on by Kit's father to run the family million dollar business. Kit has run away for the umpteenth time and it is now Pendleton's time to go after her and bring her home. Is this part of his job description? Having no choice Pendleton takes out after Kit. Kit really puts Pendleton through it but he never breaks. This intrigues Kit and she wants to get to know more of Pendleton. One way is by moving in with him (without his approval but she is the boss' daughter so what is he to do). In the end, who is chasing who? The fireworks start! There is a lot of fun with this one - but there are some hidden feelings there too to be discovered. It's a good one to read!

Funny, funny, funny!:
This was a witty and hilarious book that I really enjoyed and would definitely recommend. It's almost like an updated Frank Capra movie, with the bewildered but persevering male and an eccentric heiress, only without those things that normally make you cringe when you see one of those movies. This time the guy is an intelligent, quick-thinking corporate type, not the usual bumbler. The story is basically told from Pendleton's perspective, a South Jersey guy who has returned to the high-power corporate world, this time in Louisville KY, and gets involved with the dysfunctional McClellan family, wealthy distillers of high quality bourbon. He's trying to prove to himself and his soon-to-be-remarried ex-wife that he's still got what it takes to make it in that world. He soon realizes that the main reason he was hired, however, was to be a prospective suitor for the only McClellan daughter (Kit McClellan). It seems her mother's will stated that she had to be married within two years of the mother's death, otherwise her estate of $99.4 million will go to charity. Unfortunately for the McClellan males who have disrupted every romance that Kit has ever had, it's now payback time as far as she's concerned. Ms. Bevarly writes witty dialogue and plays on words beautifully. She makes you smile with her turn of phrase. Pendleton was a joy, just watching him play corporate-speak while his mind was wandering to other areas was hilarious. And Kit, for all her apparent eccentric behavior, had a perfectly good reason for it and was ultimately a sympathetic character. Their romance was was a well-written tug of wills and emotions. There was also a nice secondary romance involving one of Kit's brothers, a recovering alcoholic, and a woman involved with the Temperance League, who herself is the widow of an alcoholic.

A Good Summer Read...:
I really enjoyed this book. The author had a keen sense on this one. She wrote the perfect corporate type characters that reeked of money and a "business first" mindset. I thought the secondary romance throughout the story was a let down. I really wanted to see something happen with Holt and Faith. It was left to our imagination. I felt the author did a great two-step with both sets of characters. She went from chapter to chapter with each love story and it was refreshing to come back to them. I was as captivated by Holt as I was by Pendleton. All in all it was a fun read with realistic, vulnerable people.

"Her Man Friday" is a better example of this author's work:
I think that EB's previous work, "Her Man Friday," was cute and funny. This is the reason why I chose to purchase another book by this same Author with a similar title, "My Man Pendleton," However, I found in reading "My Man Pendleton," that the main characters seemed to act in ways that were so out of character, that the storyline began to slowly but surely lose credibility. The main characters started out very interesting, but the interaction and dialogue just got rather unbelieveable, hence leaving an impression that this romance had taken a somewhat ridiculous turn. This may be a reader, but not a keeper.
