[.ca] Sexual Male (ISBN 0393047407)

for the inquisitive mind--a book that reads easily:
having some questions regarding the changes that men go through, I found this book to be a candid and well written book. the examples cited were pretty realistic. in comparision to some other books, this one was not burdened down with charts and diagrams that are often a bore or too complex for a lay person to absorb. was worth the purchase proce to me

You don't have to have a 'sexual problem' to read this book.:
As a young single male, I found this book to be very informative and educational. This book focuses not only on the treatment, but also on the prevention of sexual problems. Drs. Milsten and Slowinski have truly written a guide to maintaining sexual health. I found that the emphasis placed on the maintenance of a healthy relationship with one's partner as a means to enjoying life-long sexual potency as being particularly helpful. This book is a must read for men of all ages!

Nothing beyond the basics:
The book covers the basics of impotence: physcial and psychological causes. The authors seem to emphasize the psychological more so. Yet their therapeutic suggestions in this area are just about nonexistent. Their discussion of Viagra is just poor; it is not connected well to their previous chapters. What physical and emotional problems can Viagra overcome and to what degree? Or how long do the effects of Viagra last; all that is stated is how long it takes to become effective. Something is needed beyond the minimal. The book just does not go past the first level in anything. All in all, I would certainly hope that there is a better book out there for the lay person.

Indespensable resource for therapists and clients:
Slowinski and Milsten have provided an invaluable resource for professionals and clients alike. Though written for the layperson, the completeness of this text cannot but be helpful for the treating professional as well, and can easily serve as a treatment "workbook" in therapy sessions. Recommended for all therapists as required reading and inclusion in one's professional library.

A Book for Pastoral and Spiritual Counselors:
Drs. Slowinski and Milsten have written a timely book that benefits both the layperson and the professional. The book is wonderful for clergy in the pastoral/spiritual counseling of men and their partners. Along with accurate information and the emphasis on sexual health, the book includes the ethical/religious/spiritual dimension. Those who are in religious systems owe Slowinski and Milsten a debt of gratitude --- as do those with whom they counsel.
