A Wonderful Family Book: This book has been in my family for almost 20 years now and we are getting the younger generation into it now. Of the many Berenstain books I have read growing up this is one that I will never forget and continuing reading (as fast as I can) for as long as I live. My family still has competitions to see who can read this tongue twisting story the fastest. It is an enjoyable book for any kid of any age.
Big B Believer: A favorite Berenstain book of my children I was happy to find it for my grandson.
A very "B"asic book, best read aloud to the youngest: The book builds on various B-phrases (e.g., "Big brownbear." "Big brown bear. Blue bull." etc.) ultimatelyto the "story." On the plus side, it's pretty simple, reinforces the "B" sound very well, and the pictures and story (when you get to it) are silly. However, from a parent's point of view, the B book is extremely tedious. I think that this has a negative influence on our toddler's enjoyment. Our daughter usually wanted to skip to the end of the book and have us read the entire passage at once. The Berenstains' "Bears' Vacation" is much more enjoyable. If you want a really good "B" song, check out the Chenille Sisters' "1-2-3" CD. ("B can be a bug, or B can be a bee. B begins a lot of words how many can we see?") Both are much more fun.
