Great Book, you got to read it!: "A Porcupine Named Fluffy" was a great book, it had wonderful illustrations that were full of color and detail. It's a really funny story about a little porcupine that's named Fluffy, and he cannot figure out why his name is Fluffy, he tries all kinds of different methods to make himself fluffy and soft, but nothing seems to work. One day he meets a rhinoceros that teases him about his name, and Fluffy soon comes to find out that the rhinoceros' name is Hippo! It's a real good book, and children of all ages will enjoy it.
A Porcupine named Fluffy: This book is one of my favorites to read to my nieces and nephews. "A Porcupine named Fluffy" is written in language simple enough for a child to understand, but is also humorous enough to make grown-ups laugh. It is about a young porcupine named Fluffy by his parents, after they discard several other names. As Fluffy gets older he begins to think for himself and wonders if Fluffy is really the best name for him. He tries to change himself to fit his name through all sorts of silly ways. But in the end, he forges a bond with a rhino named Hippo because of their silly names. They can laugh together about their names, and they have empathy for how the other might have been teased. It is this understanding that creates their friendship, and acceptance of themselves for who they are. The story has a wonderful rhythm and it not too wordy. I love the line "Fluffy wasn't." The illustrations are terrific, funny images that kids can appreciate and identify with. My favorite picture is when Fluffy tried to be a pillow and got his quills stuck in the chair. I highly recommend this book as a completely delightful story for all ages.
This is a very funny story.: Tavianna says: I liked when Fluffy gets stuck in his bed and when he gets stuck in the door and his head gets stuck in the umbrella. I also liked when he went up in the tree and then the tree fell back down. I liked when his Mom tries to sit on him because she looks funny! This is a good book.
Delightful and Quietly Didactic: I first looked at this book because my nickname is Fluffy. I wanted a cute book with the name in the title, and this one is really great. It teaches a great lesson about the teasing people can get when their folks label 'em wrong. The illustrations are delightful and Fluffy looks ever-so-slightly as if he's been chewed on. This book has a place of honor reserved for when my copy arrives--right next to my Harold and the Purple Crayon books.
A Porcupine Named Fluffy: A delightfully funny book. It shows that what counts isn't on the outside, but the inside. It also shows the importance of being yourself. Be happy with who you are. Very imaginative and has a good lesson. The tittle alone brings out curiousity.
