I was amazed on how many colored photos were in this book, and how much information was included in the captions. This book tells about the history of the fire service from the days of George Washington to the present. This book also tells about the different types of fire engines, fire trucks, and rescue vehicles there are,and how they are used to do different jobs at the fire scene. It tells the different hose sizes and the different nozzles that the fire engine carries, and which nozzle is used for which fire. It also tells about the different tools each of the vehicles have. The book tells about how many firemen ride on the vehicles and the different jobs each of them have. It also tells all that happens on the fire scene from when the firefighters first arrive on the scene to until they leave. The book also tells the basic training for a firefighter, and all of the information they have to know. It also tells of the safety each of the firemen have, and about all the protective clothing all the firemen have. The book also lets you know the regular day that a fireman goes through. Finally, the book has a safety section,in the back of the book,to tell children what to do in case of a fire or if they are on fire.
