We laughed, we cried, we loved Leo.: My Grade three class thoroughly enjoyed the story of Leo. We were doing a unit on cats and Leo's story was one of the highlights. An excellent book.
We can't believe that a cat lived at a church.: Our multiage class loved this book and were surprised that it was true. At first when we read this book, it felt like it was imaginary. At the end we found out that it was true. Leo belonged to everybody, not just one person. Most of us wish that we had a cat that lived at our church. About two weeks after we read this book, our teacher found out that there was a black and white cat living at her church. It doesn't get to sit in the pews or go to potluck suppers.
Every church library needs this.: A recent survey found that the death of a pet is one of the times when children most want to talk to clergy---rivalled only by divorce. This book asks some difficult questions (what is the church? how do we deal with death?) and offers, in return, God's love. Churches which celebrate the Feast of St. Francis could have someone read it out loud after the service and lead a discussion. This lovely story will appeal to all ages.
EXCELLENT illustrations and fun, great story for children.: Children's books are fun for me, but this is one that sticks in my memory. The illustrations are so vivid that they can't be forgotten. It is humorous and sad. A terrific book!
A great book for animal lovers: This book is wonderful for anyone who's ever had and loved a cat. It does deal with death, and is very sad at the end. A great way to help a child deal with the death of a pet.
