From Amazon.com: This book is a boon for those who are following diets inspired by the Diet Revolution books by Dr. Robert Atkins, The Zone, or Protein Power. It helps to have a complete reference such as this one, which lists thousands of foods, including hundreds of name brands. It's handy both for eating out and for planning meals and grocery shopping. By the way, watch out for that potato flour--Netzer reveals that it has 143 grams of carbos in just one cup.
Wow! THE Ultimate Carbohydrate Counter Bible!: I'm presently on a low carb diet and decided to purchase this book as I heard a lot of good things about it...And boy, did I get my money's worth! Thousands of entries, even McDonald's Big Mac!!! A note for canadian readers, this book was written to cater to americans first and foremost, therefore bear in mind a lot of canadian brands are not mentioned in the book. This is strictly a carbohydrate counter and does not provide any other kind of nutritional information. A must have if you're on a low carb diet.
What's the point?: Not at all what I hoped for, this book does not do much for you, if you're planing on useing it to help you manage your low carb diet you'll find that this book is kind of crippled it does what the title implies, but it does JUST that, it would make a BIG difference if it stated if the number of carbs it lists include fiber content or better yet, if it listed both carbs and fiber.
The Corinne T.Netzer Carbohydrate Counter: This book is amazing. With all the rave being "LOW CARB" this and "LOW CARB" that these days, this book was just what I needed to understand carbs better and to begin a new life of low carb eating. The book is simple to understand as well, not like the nutrition textbooks we had back when I was in high school. I give it an A+++++++!!
Question: This is an excellent book. However, when looking up "pita" it said to look under "Bread" and I still can't find it. On what page is "pita" located?
Good, but could be better: what about fiber or roughage?: The book appears to give comprehensive coverage in terms of the number and type of entries included. However, on the Atkins diet, the important measure to monitor is the "active" carbohydrate mass which may metabolised and which excludes roughage or fiber. The inclusion of such a measure in the book would greatly enhance its value and utility.
