[.ca] The Corinne T. Netzer Encyclopedia of Food Values (ISBN 0440503671)

Timeless Resource Guide:
I purchased this book many years ago, and have used it continuously! It is the definative resource guide for those of us who want take control of our lives. Know what you're eating, the calories, nutrients, minerals, etc. so that you can make choices for yourself. A must for EVERY home. A wonderful gift for those you love.

Good for reference. Needs and RDA chart/appendices:
The book is great for at home reference. Much more in depth than most books of its kind. Lists fat, saturated fat, fiber, cal., etc. Major vitamins and minerals. The book is lacking an RDA chart and could use more info on what are desired consumption values. Also could use a chapter on how to read food labels and how to use the info on the label. A good value for the price.

Don't Be Fooled By Its' Size:
At first glance this book seems to be a comprehensive guide to food values both generically and by brand, but the information it contains could have been printed in a book a third its' size. It is unnecessarilly redundant. For example, if you are looking up sliced cheese from the deli, it lists many brands, but they all have essentially the same values. The book also frequently omits the "lite" version of such items. Save your money and buy a pocket book. This book is not much better than one.
