Plot and Characters Not Believable: This book could have been good except for one thing- it was extremely unrealistic with both the plot and characters being rather ridiculous. Megan Lambert recieves a request one day to see Josh Bennett, a man she hates for "causing" her husband's death, and for other mysterious reasons. He asks her to personally supervise a project, and she wants to refuse. However, it turns out that she is indebted to Josh because of an unknown favor he had done for her years ago- he had gotten her her job. Naturally, when she finds this out, she must do as he asks. Then we find out that the other reason Megan hates Josh is that the day he met her, the day before her marriage, he had kissed her, ect. Then the novel launches in its awkward course. The reader then finds out along with Megan that Josh has been keeping tabs on her since her husband's death. I don't know about others but this just seems freaky to me. Josh seemed more like an obsessed stalker than troubled suitor. This is the first flaw. Megan was also such a weak character when she is with Josh, but the author attempted to make her seem strong in her dealings with employees. This did not work. It turns out that Megan must go to an opening of a new resort that she is supervising the advertising for, and of course Josh is also going and has a room connected with hers. They spend time together and discover that they have always loved each other, forgive each other for past wrongs, ect. Not very believable to me. Although this is not one of Ms. Browns best, there are still other great romance novels by her such as Tempting Eden and Fanta C. I don't recommend this one at all, but will continue tor ead other books by Ms. Brown in the hopes that this one was just a fluke.
I've got mixed emotions about this one!: I have REAL mixed emotions!!! I am giving it a 3 but really I would like to give it a 2 1/2. It really bothered me how Josh practically stalked Megan during the first of the book- he was REAL pushy too-constantly sneeking kisses, forcing kisses. I kept thinking "where is the respect for her?" The sex is very explicit, too. It's constant. Megan was too silly at times for me, too. Like her thinking of ruining Josh's reputation? The story is sweet- love (or was it lust?) at first sight, though Megan was faithful to her first husband. I can see where other reviews would rate it high because of the story line- Josh loving Megan sooo much and it being a dream come true for him to have the opportunity to seek her due to the unfortunate death of his friend, Megan's husband. But I really don't think I feel comfortable in suggesting this book.
Ho-Hum: This book was okay. I picked it up because I was bored one day and it looked relatively short and it was by Sandra Brown so I figured I couldn't go too wrong. And I didn't. This book moved along pretty quickly, it wasn't a heavy read so I was able to put it down and do things as I went along. The plot isn't too heavy. The characters were pretty interesting. This one I'd save for a slow day.
FANTASTIC!! A MUST READ!: I love this book! I've read many of Sandra Brown's novels and this is a fantastic one. I think the story line and characters are extremely realistic. I couldn't put the book down and read all night until I reached the end. I can't imagine anyone reading this book and not completely falling in love with Josh and having a true understanding for Megan and her feelings. It was FANTASTIC!
Awesome book!: The library at my school has that book. It's been favorite book since I read it for the first time. I love the plot and characters. I also think the love scenes are excellent. Sandra Brown is truly an amazing writer.
