A Good Read: Published in 1956 - I must admit I was a little disapointed with this book based on its title. However overall this was a pretty good volume. Set in Bayport the brothers are hired to find an ancient canon buried on Pirates Hill by Bowden who winds up being foe - not friend. Keeping the reader guessing throughout the book as to Bowden's innocence or guilt this volume drags you from chapter to chapter. Great exterior artwork on both the original & revision. RATED B-
"PIRATE'S HILL" No Ordinary "HILL": The Hardys are asked by a Mr.Bowden to aid his search for a ancient cannon. He wants the cannon for a show in Tampa, Florida. Even though the Joe and Frank have bad feelings about Bowden they agree to play along with him hoping for more information about the real reason he wants the cannon. Learning that Bowden may be a double crosser the Hardys are extra careful not to let slip any of the information they have on him. While the Hardys were scuba diving out at Pirates Hill Frank air hose is punctured by a harpoon fo an unknown reason. Everytime they go to Pirates Hill they are warned and attacks are attempted on them. Meanwhile the Bayport Historical Society has received cutlasses that are of vital importance to the finding of the cannon. They are eventually stolen by one their enemies that hope to find the cannon before the Hardys do. This mystery had great suspense and the book didn't let on as to who was the real traitor was. The only thing I questioned was the plot because cannons aren't that big for criminals to go after. Other then that the book was great.
