[.ca] Sleep Tight (ISBN 0451410777)

multi-layered suspense:
SLEEP TIGHT is a multi-layered book that doesn't follow the traditional thriller/suspense plot. You have an old mystery. You have a new mystery. You have the conflict between sisters. You have a great twist at the end. I read both HUSH and SLEEP TIGHT. HUSH is a straight-forward thriller. SLEEP TIGHT is also a thriller, but it's more internal and focuses on relationships and emotions.

Taut psychological suspense!:
After reading Anne Frasier's first suspense thriller, 'Hush', I knew it would not be my last. 'Sleep Tight' has made me a true fan. This taut psychological thriller combines well crafted characters, edge of your seat suspense, subtle romance and intelligent plotting. FBI agent Mary Cantrell returns home to investigate the abduction and murder of two young women. There with the help of her friend and partner, Anthony Spence, she must find a killer and face her own demons. Back in her childhood home living with with her mother and working with her younger sister,Gillian, now a law enforcement officer herself, Mary must finally let go of the past in order to solve these hideous crimes. This story works on many levels. Frasier paints a strong psychological portrait of Mary, a woman haunted by the murder of her friend and hurt by the betrayal of her sister. Mary's sister Gillian strives to assuage her self imposed guilt by bringing justice to others at any risk. Since Mary's recent gunshot wound while attempting to protect her partner, Anthony is consumed by fears for Mary's safety and by the realization that he cares for he much more than he'll admit. Frasier brings the past and the present together to tell a tale of betrayal and redemption that is fascinating and compelling. There is no doubt that I will continue to read anything that Anne Frasier writes.

Definitely a Page Turner:
Annotation: A suspenseful novel by Anne Frasier that reveals the details of a serial killer. FBI agent Mary Cantrell was sent to her home town to investigate some murders. While she is home some painful memories of her best friend's murder are revealed. The man convicted of her friend's murder was released from prison and signs of the murders keep leading to him as the main suspect. This man is not only thought to be the killer of Mary's best friend, but now her sister, Gillian, has taken him in as a friend. Author Bio: Anne Frasier makes her home in Minnesota with her family. Although she has just begun getting her books out there she has already taken readers by storm. After her first suspense novel, Hush, she had many readers rush out to read her next novel Sleep Tight. Hush, published in 2002, quickly made Anne become a USA Today Best Selling Author. With Sleep Tight, published in 2003, and another novel, Play Dead, on the way Anne Frasier has definitely made a name for herself among suspense novel readers. Evaluation: After being away from home for many years Mary Cantrell is called home and is faced with many painful memories. Becoming and FBI agent because of the death of her best friend has given Mary a bad feeling about going home. Mary has a bias outlook on the murder investigations that she is involved with because the moment Gavin Hitchcock got out of prison the murders started happening. Gavin Hitchcock was the man convicted of Mary's best friend's murder. As all the signs in the investigation start to point to Gavin there is change in events that leaves everyone in shock. This book was definitely a page turner for me. I think that I picked up the book because the title caught my eye, there was just something intriguing about it. Once I started to get into the book it was hard to put it down. I tried to read it every chance I got. It was definitely suspenseful and I loved the mystery of trying to figure out who the actual killer was. The plot and the characters kept me interested and focused while reading the book. I really enjoyed the way Anne Frasier wrote this book and she has now made me a fan. I look forward to reading more of her books in the future.

"Sequel":
The reason I gave this a 5 because of Mary and Anthony. What we need is a "Sequel" of them. To make up for the strange last four chapters. I was very surprised who the killer was. All and all it was really a great book. However, I would and friends of mine, who read the book also like to see more of Mary and Anthony the FBI profiler.
