I CAN'T WAIT FOR C. J.'S NEXT BOOK!!: As a fan from the beginning, I can't wait for the next C. J. book to come out. C.J. weaves a wonderful romance yet the futuristic world she creates is believeable and magical. Hurry up, C. J.!!
WOW what a great writer!: This book is full of adventure. Think of Indiana Jones in Space, with with a hot, sexy romance and lots of FUN. It's thrilling and full of chuckles. The characters are so touching, so down to earth, even when they are not on earth!!! I am immediately ordering her two other books and look forward to more of her stories. I saw this own a Pearl Award. Well, earned!!
Took Me Two Weeks To Read: Cohl Travers unearths Tess MacKenzie and involves her in a difficult artifact acquisition that will save his father's life. Her voice is all that can free an amulet. His adventuring skills can get them there. I read the first half the book in a few days, then the ending started to get tedious. After reading that it was "un-putdownable fun" I was a little disappointed in the adventure and it ended up taking me two weeks to finish because I couldn't get attached enough to read more than a chapter or two a day. But Cohl and Tess were fun characters to read about, and I was happy they got together. I enjoyed the adventure in the next book Unravelled much more.
Move along, nothing to see here (if you like SciFi): If you're expecting a good science fiction novel, don't read Unearthed. It borrows the holodeck from Star Trek, dialogue from Star Wars and robots from the Foundation series, but doesn't deliver anything original in turn. What we've got here is a just a run of the mill romance novel set in Space, rather than the Old West.
Fabulous Futuristic!: CJ Barry is a wonderfully talented author. I enjoyed Unearthed immensely. She creates vivid imagery, snappy dialogue, a solid plot, and larger-than-life characters. Her books belong on every readers Keeper Shelf.
