[.ca] Fractured Fairy Tales (ISBN 0553373730)

The Fairy Tale is Over Success Was Not Achieved Here:
Retelling fairy tales we all grew up with is a sensational idea which has been done extremely well. Just not here! In other books yes, but here unfortunately no. The stories in this book do have one thing in common with the original motive of fairy tales. They will put you to sleep. These are some of the most boring low quality stories ever written. Also avoid the books A Wolf at the Door and Snow White Blood Red edited by Ellen Datlow as they are no better than this. If you do want really good retelling of classic tales rewritten in sensational format buy Once Upon A Crime or Politically Correct Fairy Tales. You will find what you're after in those books.

Not What I Expected But Still Good:
I bought "Fractured Fairy Tales" thinking I was going to get the original fairy tales that were in "The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show" instead; I got a modern version of the fairy tales they were not as good as the original but were still good just the same. I suggest that if u want the original stories save your money and watch the reruns but if you just want I good laugh buy this book.

Not Nostalgia - Exactly:
No, it's not Edward Everett Horton. This is a derivative work of the original Jay Ward Version. If you liked the old - you should like these. They are hysterical and relayed with the same wit as the ones from the Rocky & Bullwinkle TV show; however, they are not those stories!!

Great Laughs!:
I bought this book for my dad for hannukkah and he LOVED it! It really brought us closer as a family, every night he would read one story to the family and each night we would beg for more! I just thought that this book is so wonderful. If you feel bad it gives you a good laugh, if your happy and you just want to read it then its great also! I HIGHLY recommend this book!

Funny, but you can't beat the originals:
I, like most reviewers, was shocked to see that this book, based off the hilarious segments of the same name from the 60's "Rocky and Bullwinkle" show, has taken a 90's twist (did they feel the need to compete with "Politcally Correct Bedtime Stories"?) Nevertheless, this book is still funny in usual FFF form. i.e. In "Beauty and the Beast", our "beauty" is only pretty when she sits on her donkey. As soon as she pops off "POOF"!- she's a bowser again. The charming prince has only seen her on her donkey, so they get married with her on the mule and for the better part of their marriage...only to find that her "prince" is quite the uggo himself once he jumps off his horse. A match made in heaven! You'll get 25 classic tales twisted in FFF fashion, but be prepared for an updated version than the series on Bullwinkle provided. It does tend to tarnish the original charm, but is still pretty funny. A nice nostalgic gift for any Bullwinkle/FFF fan.
