[.ca] After Breast Cancer: A Common-Sense Guide to Life After ... (ISBN 0553384252)

The most helpful "living beyond breast cancer" book to have!:
Having read Ms. Schnipper's book,it once again highlights how little there is that delves into the recovery and healing from the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. The author talks comprehensively about what women face in their "third phase" of breast cancer, that of reclaiming their lives and living more deliberately despite the scars that their breast cancer has left. Her book is not only realistic, but allows women to not feel isolated now that their actual treatment is finished. Her own personal experience as a survivor and a mental health professional allows her to understand in a much deeper way what women experience as they travel this very challenging journey of living with the knowledge that although they may never see their breast cancer again, there can be no guarantees for this. Ms. Schnipper strikes a wonderful balance between maintaining hope along with the realities of a breast cancer diagnosis. I hope that this book will be on the bookshelf of every survivor and those of us that have the privilege of working with breast cancer patients and their families.

Most Amazing Book!:
This is an amazing and wonderful book! As oncology social worker and person who has been treated for breast cancer, Hester Hill Schnipper has a unique perspective which she shares with us. I have not had breast cancer, but I do have friends who have been diagnosed. Reading this book has helped me understand their experience. In her gentle, yet focused and informative style, Ms. Schnipper takes us by the hand and offers options, alternatives, and incredible support. By sharing her own personal story with its agonies and joys, the author provides a tremendously valuable resource for people whose lives have been touched by cancer. A helpful read to friends, family, and all whose lives have been touched by cancer. I highly recommend this book!

Living it now:
This book is a wonderful guide to what happens after breast cancer treatment is over. Just trying to figure out what to call ourselves is difficult. I'm in the phase after chemotherapy and after all the doctor's appointments when you feel as if you are on a cliff waiting to go over. Ms Schnipper's book gives the feelings relevance and acknowleges that just because you are through with treatment many fears and concerns persist. I certainly recommend this book to anyone who has been diagnosed with breast cancer as well as anyone who is close to someone who may be going through this stage. Her view as a health care practitioner and someone living with breast cancer gives her a unique perspective.

After Breast Cancer: A Common-Sense Guide to Life After Trea:
This informative and beautifully written book helped me understand the challenges of women who confront breast cancer. Hopefully, it's made me a more sensitive and better friend.

A blessing for all:
For anyone who is facing or has faced the Breast Cancer challenge directly or indirectly ... or if you just want a window into the lives of others facing this challenge ... this book will help show the the way in and the way out. Simply, personally, clearly and gently shares the stories of many, and provides direction to the choices and paths available. We are lucky for life of Hester Hill Schnipper, her choice to reach out to so many and for those that have shared with and through her!
