So glad I found it again: I had the cassette of Slim Forever for Women many years ago when it first came out. I wore the tape out completely because I loved to listen to it and it truly helped! When the tape was no longer playable I searched for a couple of more years and finally found these new releases. I'm happy that they didn't change a thing and just reproduced it in cd format. The woman's voice that speaks the affirmations is soothing and confident. Highly recommended!!
Didn't work for me.: After reading all the reviews and deciding back and forth whether I should buy or not, I finally bought it. Since most of the reviews were pretty positive. I have been studying a lot on the subconscious in these past years, so I do know that working with the subconscious can bring in positive changes. I do believe that this tape might genuinely work miracles for some people, but obviously one size does not fit all. I listened to it for 5 weeks straight, everyday, once for side one and maybe four times on average daily for side two. But nope my eating habits didn't really change for the better. Most of the stuffs stated on the tape were pretty positive, but a few statements I felt they could have done without or worded in a way that could have been a bit more positive.
Slim Forever: I've found the tape very very pleasant to listen to. I've only listened to the tape for four days but I've noticed a spring in my step, instead of the 'heavy legs feeling' I normally experience because of my job. Also, I'm the personality type to always have some anxiety going on within, but I've noticed that I'm now much more relaxed, and that in itself is really a great feeling. Also, unblieveably, I discovered a piece of fruit in my hand, instead of the routine Hershy bar! Today, when I went out to lunch with my husband, I found myself craving a green salad, so I ordered it and it tasted like the best salad I've ever ate. Something very strange is going on here.........and I'm liking it.
Skepticism borne out: I was encouraged by the other reviews of this CD that I read here and thought I'd give it a shot. I was skeptical that just listening to a CD could actually work on my subconscious mind and help me to eat better and less, but I wanted to be surprised and proven wrong. I listened to the CD almost every night at bedtime for four weeks, and aside from disturbing my sleep for the first few nights, I noticed no effect whatsoever, much less on my eating habits. Maybe the problem was that the messages weren't really tailored to my personal food issues - these messages mention specific food-related things a couple of times, but they're primarily more related to generic self-esteem issues. I did like that there was enough complexity to the text that I didn't find myself reciting it half a beat ahead of the script, but the messages are still consistent. Track 1 is an introduction to the CD with publisher information and stuff that you might find in the foreward of a book. Track 2 is a deep-breathing relaxation exercise (which I found to go too fast to allow me to actually take deep breaths, but I have big lungs). Track 3 begins the main text, and I think tracks 4 and maybe 5 are set at points within the audible text. The second half of the CD (tracks maybe 5 and 6) is pleasant enough music (though largely unremarkable) with a sort of breaking wave sound underneath. I'm assuming that's where they somehow mask the messages, though I couldn't distinguish any speech consciously. The entire thing is about an hour long. I don't know what the whole "abridged" notation is about in the item description, as the length seems comparable to the cassette version. So, it's probably not going to hurt you to listen to this CD, but there's nothing to say that it will definitely help, either. For the price, it might be worth a shot, and buying it used makes it even more worthwhile to at least try. I'll stick with trying to get back on my formal healthy eating plan and keep going to Curves, though.
It's working for me: I bought this CD with some skeptism, but was willing to try something new to get back on track with eating healthy and exercise. I found this CD to be motivational, while I laughed through it the first couple of times, within a few weeks I have noticed a change in my eating habbits and have been motivated to go to the gym. I have been listening for 5 weeks now and played track 6 (just the music) while sleeping through out the night. I am very happy to say that I have lost weight, all my clothes are loose and this has given me more motivation to keep with it. It wasn't a big investment dollar wise so I think it's worth it to give it a try.
