Romantic mystery with a lot of humor: "The Bodyguard" has everything I like in a book: mystery, suspense, romance, and humor - a lot of humor. Natasha Chamberlain is a fun character, a woman who is unsure of herself yet overextends in every circumstance. Her bungling attempts at guarding Roger are hilarious. This introduction to the series is a fun one, and I look forward to more books with this kick-ass character.
5 Stars Because ...: The book is funny, some of the characters are off-the-wall, the mystery is a good one, the romance one that sizzles for most of the book, and the writing style of the author such that the action keeps coming, holding interest until the very end. Natasha Chamberlain's young age and impulsive nature, as well as her spunk, are fun to read. It's obvious there will be growth with the character, since this is the first book in the series and Natasha's first job as bodyguard. Jonce Striker is hot, Roger Valentine a real sweetie, and the gruesome twosome, Pit and Bigun, the best. I look forward to reading the books to follow in this series.
Wacky: I love books with wacky characters, and The Bodyguard offers plenty of those. From Natasha, an overzealous protector of humans and animals, to her mom Stevie, suffering through a perimenopausal crisis, on to Roger, a reclusive millionaire, and ending with the Samoan twosome, Pit and Bigun. The only normal person in this whole bunch is Striker, who can't seem to control Natasha or his temper when dealing with her. The plot is a good one, the mystery one I thought I had figured out but didn't, and the characters fun. Natasha is a young woman trying to deal with a traumatic event from her past in unorthodox ways. I liked her take-on-the-world attitude, and the fact that she's so young. There's more to discover with Natasha and I am looking forwarding to watching her grow as a bodyguard and person. Hope the next in the series is published soon. Recommended for any lover of romantic suspense, mysteries, or romantic comedies.
Zany: Natasha Chamberlain is young, impulsive and quirky to the extreme. Her dream is to become an investigator for the firm she works for, so she accepts a job as bodyguard to a hermit millionaire, hoping this will be a stepping stone for her. Not! Natasha's impulsivity keeps landing her in trouble and irritating the hell out of her boss, Jonce Striker - a man she's had the hots for for three years. Lots of laughter with this one. The characters are fun, Natasha's antics funny, and the mystery as to who's trying to kill Roger a good one. I especially love the dense duo, Pit and Bigun, and the changes that take place with Roger.
Get her to a mental institution: The story is nice and entertaining. Some of the dialogues are funny, and we like a girl with spunk. But this one just don't get it. To much of a good thing is sickening, and she is. I really don't get why the hero falls for her. He seems so nice. Beurk ! Don't bye this one, just get it at the library if you really like the author (not one of my favorite). After 60 pages you just can't stand her anymore.
