[.ca] Castle in the Air (ISBN 0606277307)

A completely charming sequel to "Howl's Moving Castle.":
Don't be put off by the naysayers here. "Castle In The Air" is a lovely, if lightweight, sequel to the utterly wonderful "Howl's Moving Castle," if only because it's a send-up of the Arabian Nights tales (much as HMC was a deconstruction of traditional fairy tales). It's true; the HMC characters don't show up until the last half of the book, but when they do, it's the best dovetailing of stories since Edward Eager's Tales of Magic quartet. I wish to God someone would make live-action movies out of these books (although I'm sure the Japanese anime version of HMC due in spring 2003 will be great).

The best book I have ever read!:
The book "Castle in the air" was the best book I have ever read. And I don't even like to read! This book is so filled with suspense and excitement that I finished the book in two days! With this book I got punished because I wouldn't get my nose out of it! I think that if you like fantacies, you should get this book, I can gauarantee it will be worth your time, and money. I also think that this book would be enjoyable even to adults! All I can say is that it's awsome!

pretty good:
I was all excited when I got this book. I was hoping to find out more about what happened to Sophia and Howl. But instead there were a bunch of new characters, which weren't quite as interesting, and when Howl and Sophia showed up at the end, and felt like I had missed a bunch of stuff.

Pretty Good:
I was sort of disappointed to read this after Howl's moving castle. It was good, but the characters weren't as interesting, and the plot was sort of confusing. I also felt like I had missed part of the story with Sophie and Howl and Calcifer, when they all showed up near the end.

Likeable and funny:
a highly enjoyable romp thru Alladin type Arabia to wet Sussex environs. Although not as poignant as it's predecessor, Howls Moving Castle, Castle in the Air is nonetheless very readable and makes one just as reluctant to put it down. Fans will enjoy it and if you haven't been converted to the DWJ fanclub yet, you're only one book away!
