[.ca] Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig (ISBN 0613021339)

hillarious.....:
Our oldest son read this book at school and he liked it so much that he insisted we buy it. When my husband and I read it we could not stop laughing. It puts an unexpected twist on the original story of The Three Little Pigs. You can't wait to turn the page to see what the Three Little Wolves will come up with next and what the Big Bad Pig will do to destroy it. There is also a surprise ending. The story is hillarious and the pictures are excellent. This is definitely going to be one of our favorite books. I don't think we will ever get tired of reading it to our boys. Buy this book, I promise you will love it.

The best "Three Little Pigs" variant out there!:
I've read and reviewed most of the basic tellings of "The Three Little Pigs", as well as most of the variants. Here's my take on it. My favorite variant as a child, this is charming tale reverses the traditional plot. The pig is now after the wolves, who all live in a brick house, then a cement one, and then one of sheet metal. Each time, the pig manages to knock it down, until the wolves are forced to change their strategy. The art is bright and beautiful, not overly cartoony. The surprise ending is a delight.

My Favorite Children's Story:
I teach children's storytelling; this is my students' favorite story. Because it is just a little more extreme than the original 3 Little Pigs story, and because it reverse the roles, my students think its much cooler. The illustrations are really incerdible too.

Exquisite!:
My mother in law has long been animatedly telling my three yr old the story of the three little pigs whenever we're stuck in the car for a while-- and he loved every minute of it, every time. My husband and I were already big fans of Helen Oxenbury (Check out "We're Going On a Bear Hunt")-- so when we saw this, we were sold. But we had no idea we'd instantly love it *this* much. Other reviewers have given away it's secrets--suffice it to say that I was not expecting the pig to pull out a drill, or the wolves to refer to all the tea leaves in thier china tea pot! I'm more than willing to read it to my son again and again-- and that's saying a lot for a children's book. I'm online right now getting it for my neice who will be one in 3 days-- but I'm really getting it for my brother ;o)

An excellent remake of the original story, fullof fun stuff:
The three little wolves and the big bad pig tells the classic story of the three litttle pigs and th big bad wolf, with a few twists. Instead of three little pigs, three little wolves have to contend with the treacherous big bad pig. The wolves also use nonconventional methods to build their houses, and the pig uses it's modern ways to knock them down. The antics of the wolves making houses out of brick, cement, and metal, as well as the pig destroy their hard work with a sleedgehammer, pnuematic drill, and dynamite, controls most of the comical antics of this story. The zaniness of the events that occur will leave the reader laugh and imbued with happiness. While containing many modern elements, the three little wolves and the big bad pig still contains classic yet crucial parts of the original tale. for instance, in the beginning, the three are told to go make a life for themselves by their mother, as well as the huffing, the puffing, and blowing the house in. From page to page, this well-written book will make you think you know the ending, but surprise you with a totally different one! The story won't keep you on the edge of your seat, but rather on the floor laughing at this hilarious book. Enjoy!
