[.ca] Audrey Hepburn, An Elegant Spirit: A Son Remembers (ISBN 0671024795)

perfect!!!:
Describes Audrey exactly, puts into words how I feel watching her on screen. She was more than a great actress, she was a presence that touched you, and her elegance and grace was more than the outside, it was something that radiated from within, and her son does a fantastic job acknowledging that, helping us, her fans, understand a little better. I have been captivated by Ms. Hepburn my whole life, and have read almost everything out there but none of her biographies have touched me, and done real justice to her like this one. I feel this is the way Audrey would want to have been remembered, as if she were there as her son wrote it. My respect and admiration for Audrey Hepburn has increased dramactically through the reading of this book and I treat my loved ones better, and enjoy life more through her great wisdom and courage. I love this book! It has great pictures also and is a delightful read, he has real talent!! Thank you so much for writing this book and all the love that went into it!

great book:
This is a wonderfully and beautiful book. The photos are great. Audrey Hepburn's son writes a beautiful tribute to his mom. A very loving and well put together book .

I think this is a justified rating...:
Seeing that this book was my first Audrey Hepburn biography, I didn't know there was more informative biography's out there. I mean, the pictures were beautiful, but the thing is, I think Sean had the upper hand here because he was her son. I guess that's what drew me to this book- I thought that because it was written by the a person that was so close to her, it would give a fan insight to a T. but now, most of it was just pictures- pictures that took up a whole page, or tiny ones with little captions that you could have surely fit some more writing in them. Throughout reading this book, I felt as thought I was witnessing Audrey through a class case at a museum- you were only to know what the hoi polloi was learning. I guess that's the case, but I just wanted something a little more in-depth.

An Elegant Spirit - indeed:
Too bad there are not more people in the world like Audrey. There will never be another. The most beautiful women in the world, and the reason is because she was even more beautiful inside. A terrific read. Tells more about her UNICEF work. Loved the book - the pictures are wonderful. This book is much like Audrey, a beautiful cover on the outside and the contents are wonderful with beautiful pictures and a beautiful story. This is one book I plan to keep always. Other books I give to others to read, or trade them at a half price book store, but this one is a keeper.

A Talented,Caring,Elegant Woman and Mother:
Audrey Hepburn chose to never write her autobiography because she was afraid of offending someone inadvertandly by careless revelations. Her son,Sean, writes a loving tribute of this lovely lady whose beauty shines through on every page,as it did in her films.Films such as "The Nun's Story",the musical "My Fair Lady"and Truman Capote's "Breakfast At Tiffany's." He also writes of how important his Mothers'work in UNICEF became to her,in her later years, and in turn to himself. Audrey was born in Holland and during World Warll she suffered from malnutrition, brought on by a diet consisting of tulip bulbs and water. She often went without food all day. After the war ended, she was a beneficiary of UNICEF. She understood the chidren of the Third World and their suffering better than many celebrities. In many ways,it is refreshing to read of Ms.Hepburn from her eldest son's point of view.(Audrey had a younger son she adored named Luca Dotti)from her second marriage. This is a true love story. For any woman who admired Audrey Hepburn, this is a perfect Mother's Day Gift. For anyone, this is a gift and the proceeds go to the "Audrey Hepburn Children's Fund."
