[.ca] Manifest Your Destiny (ISBN 069451778X)

The Guidebook to Success Based on Spiritual Principles:
This is a "peak experience" book by this author. It shows how he has "arrived", succeeded in manifesting his destiny ... It is the culmination of all previous books written by Dr. Wayne Dwyer. He identifies the foundation of success by outlining and fusing basic principles from the Judeo-Christian perspective as well as Eastern religions and philosophies. The basics are 1) "becoming aware of your higher self". By recognizing one's connection between this world and the unseen world a person can transcend the limitations of the physical world and achieve personal goals, here and now. 2) "Trusting yourself is trusting in the wisdom that created you". In essence, to succeed and achieve anything starts with a belief and trust that it can be done. The corollaries to this are, admitting one's confusion and doubt, accepting that there is love and support because we are not alone but part of a higher divinity. Another principle is 3) recognizing the holographic nature of the universe, which means everyone is connected through the principle of consciousness and thought. Keeping one's desired manifestation secret allows less dispersal of one's personal energy to those who react and thereby direct one's energy elsewhere. Recognizing G-d's unconditional love frees a person up from becoming judgemental. You essentially become a compassionate witness to everyone and everything that is happening in your life. The source of creation is a loving peaceful energy, there is no need to force or apply pressure to this achievement. The practice of meditation is recommended to achieve harmony with the Spirit and Source of all things. He advocates the sounding of "om" in the evening and "ah" in the morning as standard rituals - highlighting that sound is the one energy in which we can participate. Dwyer states, "Sounds literally mold the abstract world of thought and spirit into shape." \op. 113, Harper Perennial, c. 1997\c. He adds, "Keep in mind that sound is the vibrational frequency between the world of solid matter or form as we know it and the higher vibrational frequencies of the formless world of universal spirit." \op.114\c Mental imagery of your desire is recommended to formulate that it is possible and already exists as real. One of the last principles is expressing gratitude and generosity after one has manifested one's desire. This last principle expands to a life of service on some level to share one's understanding, awareness, or achievement with humanity. This closes the circle of energy and love that we receive from Spirit and lets more of it manifest in the world. This book is highly recommended. Erika Borsos (erikab93)

Silly spiritual nonsense:
I borrowed this book from the library after reading "Pulling Your Own Strings" by the same author. While "Pulling Your Own Strings" was an amusing book that offered practical advice, the same cannot be said for "Manifest Your Destiny". This, and the rest of Dr. Wayne Dyer's more recent writings, are nothing more than feel-good claptrap. It is hard to imagine any clear-thinking adult, whether religious or not, taking this book seriously. It represents the worst excesses of both the self-help and the spiritualist movements. If you're not a regular worshipper at the alter of the New Age Cult of Self Esteem, you will toss this book aside after a few chapters. Only a true self-help junkie craving yet another fix could possibly want to read this book.

Had a hard time with this one:
Interesting part in the book was the part about how to meditate. It may be a good way to work away stress in this very stressful society. I still need more science. It seems Dyer is working too much from a strategic formula in his books rather than speaking from his heart. He would be better off speaking from his heart and talking about those who disagree with him. I wish he would express more emotion in his book..he always seems so "Spock-like"...and with Ben Stein type enthusiasm, I can only give Dr. Dyer two stars on this one. Hope your next books are more ambitious, not just preaching to the new age crowd. Jeffrey McAndrew author of "Our Brown-Eyed Boy"

Finished Reading but Still dont know how to Manifest......:
I bought the book because title attracted me & author was Wayne Dyer.I think this was dyers failed attempt. He is running short of ideas & still wanna write a book. No new ideas.Same old Stuff.9 principles,Deatailed explaination But no exact idea of how to apply them together like a plan. If we want something then how can we detach ourself from it.Its very difficult I think. If you are detached that means you relly dont want them. God!I dont know what else to say.I gave three stars because there is something to read even if it is very little. Better read Joe Vitale's Spiritual Marketing than this.

Dr. Feelgood is Pulling OUR Strings:
I'm starting to think that Wayne Dyer is pulling our strings! Where I live public TV of late has become one big infomercial new age clearing house and Dyer is the King. While he was prancing around the stage looking, as someone pointed out, like Marlon Brando in "Apocalypse Now," I finally found the strength to turn off his crazy making New Age nonsense. According to his \oil\clogic homeless suicidal people must be the most evolved. Only someone as priviliged as Dyer could actually believe he's helping not harming ordinary people with this brain killing nonsense. Notice the new age has a built in defense of irrationalism against any who might criticise it. Very 1984 or Brave New World don't you think?
