Plenty of information... little follow through: I recently picked up a couple of books about Wicca and Witchcraft just out of general interest, this book and "First Steps to Solitary Witchcraft" by Marie Bruce. Of the two, Holland's book had the most practical information, whereas Bruce's was all about the Spice Girl brand of female empowerment. For all the information Holland included in her book, no where did she explain when, where, or how to use the information, except in a few spells and incantations that I probably would never use anyway. For example, she includes several charts (number squares corresponding to different planets) but does not indicate anywhere else in the book how one might use such a thing. I was also disturbed by her sometimes cryptic warnings about certain facets of magic ("remember that you cannot 'unring' a bell;" and strong cautions against invoking elementals). After going into great details about about tools and elements and so on, suddenly you come to this minute section on elementals that says DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT USING THEM. That's nice, but I don't even know what an elemental is! As has been previously mentioned, she goes on in other chapters to say that certain things are unethical but then immediately provides a spell to make someone love you or something. I agree with other reviewers that the book is hypocritical and unethical in places. Overall though, if I choose to continue down the wiccan path, there is information in there that will likely prove handy.
Great: This book was a great resource for me, I checked it out from the library and now am thinking of buying it. Eileen this book is great! It helped me along in my first starting Book Of Shadows. Thanx ^^
A spell writer's dream come true!: This is an excellent book. It contains corrospondances for everything! Includes herb, stone, tree, and deity references for writing spells for any and everything.
A Treasure of information: I enjoyed this book so much. From A to Z it has so much information for those new to Wicca. And it has helped me to understand a lot that I didn't before.
A Beginners Dream!!: This book was extreamly interesting, it's very informative and I found it mostly easy to find what I needed. I was looking for a few different things to put in my BOS and this book was so fantastic, I like that she tells us the downside of what spell we may cast but still explains us lieaving us hung in midair, I would highly recomend this book to anyone wanting to go Wiccan or anyone interested on the topic. ;) *****
