Classic embroidery book.: This is one of my favorite books on creative embroidery. No patterns. No counting. No cutsey projects. In fact, no projects at all. Just an excellent guide to exploring the possible uses of common embroidery stitches. I must however correct a misleading error in the editorial review above. This is a reprint of a 1985 book and ALL of the photos in the book are black & white. But don't let that stop you from buying it. One of the best ways to learn how to use different stitches is to work in a monochrome color scheme. Worry about colour after you become competent with the stitch and its textural possibilities. If you must have colour photos, Stich Magic: Ideas and Interpretation by Jan Beaney & Jean Littlejohn makes a wonderful companion to this book.
