Reviewer: Lucille and Daniel - See all my reviews I'm the "proud" owner of Dr. Perricone's two previous books: "The Perricone Prescription" and "The Perricone Promise". As much as I liked both books, I was unpleasantly surprised by the amount of repetitions. What was published as the second book with a different title should have actually been named as the second edition of the first book. For that reason I was a little cautious when considering "The Perricone Weight-loss Diet". This time, however, I did not feel cheated. I found that this book is a good manual teaching you how to take care of your weight and beauty without the danger of overdoing it, like it is in the case of many fad diets (Atkins, South Beach, etc). Like in all his books, Dr. Perricone focuses on anti-inflammatory and antioxidant foods that will not only keep your weight down but will also assure that you will improve your overall health in the process. Our ultimate goal is not to die thin! - We want to be lean and good looking, but we also want to stay healthy and live long and happy lives... Following author's recommendation in his previous books my diet is already low on carbs and saturated fats. I do not drink coffee for several months now. I am committed to follow Dr. Perricone's fourteen-day meal plan introduced in this book and I am looking forward to see good results in the coming months... On the negative side I am uncomfortable with Dr. Perricone's promoting several of his products, especially the supplements. First of all, they are much too pricey, and there are plenty of cheaper alternatives on the market. Secondly, I believe in natural, organic foods and natural remedies as recommended by some other authors, especially by Dr. Tombak in "Can We Live 150 Year?" - the best book I have ever read on health, self-help, and longevity.
