Cheesy: I felt that this book was really cheesy, and that the author completely trapped herself for the next book. First off, you know quite near the beginning of the book that to vampires and the werewolves will have to "join together to defeat the enemy". Right when Bella finds out that the vampires were just about to catch Victoria, but their rivalry got in the way. Its just so, "we must stand together to succeed". It wasn't that bad when they actually did join forces, but you still got the feeling that that was the underlying tone. Also, I feel that Stephenie Meyer really trapped herself for the next book. The only solution that I would like would be for Edward to die, but I don't think anyone else would like that. There really is no good ending for the series that I can think of now. Also, Bella's "great discovery" that the vampire in her room, the killings in Seattle, and Victoria were all linked, was sadly obvious. The plot was quite simple, made more complicated by Bella's relationship with Jacob and Edward, but that just caused people to either hate Jacob, or hate Edward.
Filling in the gaps.: I was recently coerced into reading this series by a coworker, and though it's not nearly as good as people make it out to be, it is definatly an easy read and well-worth the time. The author does a good job of portraying Bella as an angsty teen and narrates in a way that keeps readers interested. The only real problem I have about this series is that in Twilight and New Moon the reader is put in a world where nothing exists but Edward, Bella, Carlisle, Alice and Jacob. The other characters used in the book aren't fleshed out and don't have a history of their own. Most of the time being used to push Bella to one of the fleshed out characters so something interesting can happen. This is where I find Eclipse starting to fill in the gaps. Within the first half of the book, we're explained Rosalie's history, the Quielutes(sp?) history and Jasper's history. Other people around the couple start getting much more involved with the story, which is a refreshing departure from the problems-with-edward, make-me-a-vampire sections which have filled most of the previous books. All things said, this is a good read. It's hard to put it down once you've gotten started though, so make sure you have time to read it.
Better than Twilight: I started reading this series because I was intrigued. So much hype about a vampire series for teens?! Could it really be that good? Since day one, I've not been able to put them down! After I started Twilight, I immediately went out the buy New Moon & Eclipse. It's been 2 weeks and I don't want to finish Eclipse before Breaking Dawn hits the stores. What would I do without my fix of Bella & Edward?! huh .... I found Twilight slightly on the slow side ... character development etc... New Moon was sad from the start and I couldn't wait for Edward to return. The 'dog' just bores me. I don't know why Bella indulges him? The 3rd book, Eclipse is flawless. The book flows and there's not a dull moment. These novels are not just for teens. Caution: Once you start reading, you will not be able to put them down. I cannot wait for book 4! What will I do 'til then?
Amazing.: I loved this book, except for the parts that involved Jacob Black. For those of us who have read this book or New Moon, we know that he is just a jealous little "boy*". Jacob needs to give Bella her space to be Bella and needs to stop butting in with Bella's and Edward's relationship. He is just annoying. =\o All in all, I still recommened that you read this book. * I will not give away the secret to anyone who hasn't read the Twilight Series. HA.
LOVE ITT: I was so sad that i read this book too fast just beacuse i couldn't put it down! I loved every page! The epilogue was kinda weird though, i wish it was bella and edward's future or something instead of jacob's anger. I cannot wait until BREAKING DAWN is out!!
