[.ca] Palestine Peace Not Apartheid (ISBN 0743285034)

Must Read To Understand Root Causes of Middle East Conflict:
Excellent book that provides a clear and simple way forward to bring justice, security and peace to all people in the Middle East. Carter's use of the word Apartheid, to describe how Palestinians and Israelis are segregated and treated completely differently under the illegal Israeli military occupation of the Palestinian territories, is correct. Read the book for yourself and you be the judge. This book is timely and challenges the people, politicians and media of North America to speak up and take action.

nicely written, but mainly fiction (poorly researched):
As we all aware how statistics can lie, how reporters can be biased, we should also be all aware who is Mr. Carter and what his views have been for 40 years or more. Not a bad man, but very very unobjective; unwilling to debate his views against others that do not share them. Interesting fiction, but not a source to judge the real situation, or even understand it.

Thank you Jimmy!!!:
This is a book that tells it like it is. It's too bad that the American media is so afraid of the Israeli lobby that they can't support the truth. The book eloquently describes the illegal and inhuman oppression and persecution of Palestinians in the occupied territories. Since Israel was illegally created on the land that belonged to over 700,000 Palestinians, the rightful residents of the land have all been squeezed into what amounts to Concentration Camps. The truth of this is in the imprisonment wall that is now under construction. What the Palestinians are living through is as bad, if not worse, than what the Jews themselves experienced in WW II, and certainly as bad, if not worse, that what blacks lived under in South Africa during apartheid. Jimmy has made it clear that this situation exists, not due to racism but due to the desire of a statistical minority of Israelis to confiscate and colonize land that belongs to others, and then to forcefully suppress any objections from the displaced citizens, as well as to suppress any objections from anyone else in the world. To understand this statistical minority that has created this horrible, world-destabilizing situation in the Middle-east, it is helpful to read "Political Ponerology: The Science of Evil Adjusted for Political Purposes" which is published by Red Pill Press. A great and honest appraisal of the current situation by a truly fine human being, Jimmy Carter.

Brave perspective on Middle Eastern Peace:
Carter speaks with an unsympathetic tone towards Israel and the West in this overview of his interaction with the peace process between Israel and Palestine. Identifying and categorizing the root causes of this conflict are quite complex, but Carter is able to highlight some of the key stumbling blocks to peace and he ably lays out the steps that need to transpire in order for peace to be a possibility in this troubled land. While I do feel that both sides deserve equal ink in terms of causes and justifications for their actions, I also think that both sides are equally responsible to coordinate and work towards fair and equal peace initiatives as part of a long term nation building project for BOTH Israel and Palestine. As an unqualified observer, I can only pray that those in positions of authority, power and influence are able to follow some, if not all, of the recommendations laid out by Carter and some of his contemporaries in a positive exchange of peace and reconciliation in what is bound to be a difficult but ultimately rewarding healing process. Whether you value or despise Carter's opinions, it is difficult to ignore his years of experience and his wise advice pertaining to moving this area into a more stable peace.

War is the root cause:
I always had a sincere admiration for President Carter. I think he is very genuine when it comes to global peace. Although I can't comment on most of his opinions (and Israel-Palestine conflict for that matter), "Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid" has definitely given all of a us lots of fodder to brainstorm our thoughts on this historic conflict, which pretty much drives majority of the unrest in the middle east. It's always said that it's equally important to read the other side of the story if we are sincerely willing to achieve peace. "Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid" has done just that and pretty much tells us the following. THERE IS NO ROOT CAUSE FOR WAR. WAR IS THE ROOT CAUSE.
