[.ca] Letters for Emily (ISBN 0743444485)

This Book Made Me Cry, but I Loved It:
Harry enjoyed writing stories and poems before the Alzheimer's. Now he writes as much as he can during his few daily moments of lucidity. He has family, but it's Emily, who comes by and visits with her mother, that he loves the best. It's Emily he's going to miss. After his death Emily's parents search through his things looking for important documents, but instead they find a book of his poems and they discover a hidden message in the first poem, then more. The messages lead to hidden files on Harry's computer. Each file is a letter to Emily and that's all I'm going to say about this extremely wonderful book that made me cry. If you don't read anything else this year, you should at least read "Letters for Emily." It will warm your heart, bring tears to your eyes and joy to your soul. This novel gets five big, bright stars from me. Reviewed by Vesta Irene

Letters for Emily......WOW:
I normally do not read books, however during vacation I got stuck doing the laundry. So I went to the book store and bought this book. In just 1 day I read over half the book (in one sitting). That night I set my alarm clock so that I could finish the book before my kids woke up. Letters for Emily is very well written and easy to get into. This is the first time I have read a book (to the last page) and enjoyed it.

Heartwarming Tale after losing a Grandparent:
This book is a wonderful tale that makes you sad, makes you laugh, and it also gives you that warm feeling that makes you smile. I would extrememly recommend this book to anyone that would like a short but sweet book.

Good but lacks depth:
The letters on life makes this a good read but is not supported by a good story. I expected the book to show more depth in the relationship of the characters involved. I was more keen on reading the letters and some of them were really good, especially the one about 'stinging flies' in the garden.

Excellent - Couldn't Put It Down:
This was his first novel? It was Excellent. I read it in one night! A definite page turner. And the ending . . . You'll Love It!
