a fun read: I personally love Louise Bagshawe. I have read all of her books (by the way it bugs me when they change the titles you think Youppi a new one and then bugger its not) Mondays Child is a fun and entertaining read I really loved Anna. Mark was a great leading man. People in other critics have said that Louise always uses the same formula but in Mondays Child she went for something totally different. It turned out really well. My only negative critic would be the cover It Looks Nothing Like Anna At ALL!!!!!!!!!
Pretty good: If you're looking for chick-lit, this is a great read. Sometimes it's not very realistic, but it's still a fun, interesting story with a happy ending.
I expected better from Louise!!: I have been a long-time fan of Louise Bagshawe's novels (I have read every one of them), however, I found this novel to be a big disappointment. Her previous books involve strong female characters that have to struggle to overcome large hurdles usually involving grudges between former friends/acquaintences. I will admit that these books are not high quality literature, more beach reads, and I always enjoyed the 'trashiness' of her novels but this one just does not cut it. It seems that she is trying to take on a more comedic style, like that of Olivia Goldsmith, Helen Fielding, Sophia Kinsella, Jennifer Crusie, and others in this field. This novel definitely falls short of the standards set buy these other romantic/comedic authors. I would recommend picking up one of her older novels if you are interested in reading a Bagshawe but otherwise sticking to the other authors I previously mentioned for the romantic comedy reads.
An excellent book for a refreshingly light read...: Now, we're not talking heavy literature here that needs to be overanalyzed...Monday's Child is simply a fun and lively book about the perils of dating and not feeling "perfect". Excellent story, comes very close to describing the dating lives of plenty of us. I'd definitely recommend it!
