From Amazon.com: Unless Peter Parker decides to pen his own autobiography someday, you're not going to find a better guide than this to the life and times of your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. From that fateful radioactive bite in the science hall up to Spidey 2099, DK's Ultimate Guide recounts all the career milestones--major and minor--of Stan Lee's web-slinging wall-crawler. Organized and authored by Tom DeFalco, former Marvel editor in chief and the series' bestselling author, this guide pulls together the storyline's many twists and turns (chronologically, by decade) and devotes big spreads to nearly every noteworthy ally, friend, and villain (with one curious omission in the Shocker). Special sections cover episodes like the alien costume, the regrettable clone saga, and the wedding to Mary Jane, while panel after panel of original art (over 600 images in all) flesh out the action (a particular treat with the corny old dialogue and art). DeFalco makes some small missteps--inevitable in any fan-boy project--and certainly The Ultimate Guide will feel dated as the series evolves, but as a comprehensive guide, it just doesn't get any better. Throw in a foreword by the inimitable Stan Lee, and you've got a book that would make even Peter Parker proud. --Paul Hughes
A Spider-Man's fan ultimate delight!: "The Ultimate Guide to Spider-Man" by Tom Defalco is an amazing book! If your a lifetime Spider-Man fan or just an amatuer, I highly reccomend this book. Gloriously filled with spectacular illustrations and highly detailed text, this is the book for you. I instantly got hooked, and became a Spider-Man after reading this book.
The best Spider-man book that money can buy!: If you buy one Spider-man book in your life, this should be the one. It has detailed descriptions of all of Spidey's powers, friends, enemies, and even a page on Peter Parker himself. It has helpful pictures on every page to go with the text, which makes this book very enjoyable. You could just pick up this book without knowing anything about Spider-man, and you could win a trivia contest just by skimming the pages(each villain has a quick, 1-paragraph description of their names and backgrounds). The book is split into decades, showing Spider-man in the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, Spiderman 2000, and MUCH more. It even gives a description of how his web shooters work! I don't think that the person who wrote the review "Full of boring details...., December 6, 2003 Reviewer: A toy enthusiast from USA" knew what he/she was talking about. Spider-man books don't get more essential then this. I bought it for $20, and it was worth every cent. I hope that this review was helpful to you.
The Greatest Guide Around!!: This is an excellent guide to Spiderman. Its in depth detail is great for people who have never read a Spiderman comic. I'd advise buying it if you love Spiderman and want to learn more.

Big, colorful guide to an American icon: "Spider-Man: The Ultimate Guide," by Tom DeFalco, is full of information and colorful illustrations. The book covers the history of Spider-Man as the character and his world have developed in the comic books. Included in the book's artwork are reproductions of many comic book covers spanning decades of Spider-Man's history. The book includes information about Peter Parker, his family and friends, Spider-Man's origin and fantastic abilities, and Spider-Man's allies. Topics such as Spider-Girl and Spider-Man 2099 are also covered. A great deal of space is devoted to the many supervillains faced by Spidey over the decades: the Vulture, Doctor Octopus, the Lizard, Mysterio, Silver Sable, Venom, Carnage, and many more. Also fascinating is the book's coverage of important storylines such as the history of Spider-man's clone. The book includes a foreword by Spider-Man creator Stan Lee, an index, and a gazetteer that lists the first appearances of many characters. This is a really enjoyable and informative book. The illustrations give the book tremendous visual appeal. DeFalco really gives you a sense of the epic sweep of the Spider-Man mythos--I felt I was getting a comprehensive look at a richly peopled saga that is full of drama, tragedy, and hope.
