[.ca] Stitch 'N Bitch Crochet: The Happy Hooker (ISBN 0761139850)

I have many, many, many pattern books, and have:
generally become jaded with them over the years, especially with the last couple of years. Many so-called new pattern books often have designs which have been recycled, or are very simplistic, or just plain ugly. However, I was more than pleasantly surprised when I bought this book. It has a refreshing style of writing, making it an easy read. It has fun bits of information, including bios on the designers. It has multiple, great pictures of the patterns being modelled, as well as basic instructions for newbies to the craft. I feel that there is plenty here to inspire a novice, and an experienced "hooker", and the designs are very cute, and trendy - not kitschy, but quite chic, and I feel very enthused and inspired looking at them. It is not all scarves, ponchos, and baby afghans. As a person who has been crocheting for many years, I am very happy with this book and highly recommend it to others. Too bad there wasn't more hours in the day, and money in my bank account.

Interesting, funny...but beware of the count mistakes:
I purchased this book like many to teach myself how to crochet. It is written with humour and cleverness. The graphics are clear and very helpful for beginners. The patterns are also fun and moder. However, as much interesting this book is in comparison to old granny-like crochet learning techniques, the patterns are often wrong... The patterns counts are not as they should be do be carefull if you are a very beginner and wondering why you can't get your project finished (or started in some cases)it might just be because, what is indicated is actually impossible to make! Most notably the "Sweat Peas" chale and the bed fellows have errors in them. I still would recommend the book, but you better be a clever learner or have an expert crocheter in your entourage!!

This book is amazing!:
I'm the beginner in crochet. After taking two crochet classes, I bought this book as a reference, which was highly recommended by my instructor. Now, I can read the pattern and alternate the original design on my own. It's fun reading this book, and I highly recommend this book for those who is new to crochet just like me! :)

I'm a happy hooker!:
I really, really enjoyed this book. It is straight forward, easy to follow and has lots of great pictures. There are lots of great projects that are really inspiring and fashion forward. This isn't your gradma's crochet book! If you want to learn to crochet, or know how and want some fun projects, this is the book for you!

Fabulous Instructions:
Since when I began to crochet, I learned from a friend, I never knew all the proper terminology that many of the crochet patterns use. I love this book for a number of reasons. Firstly, the book shows you in detail how to do all the different crochet stiches. Secondly, there is a chart in the book that lists all the abbrevations used in patterns and then tells you what each abbrevation means. And lastly, there are so many different patterns in the book. Some patterns I really like, others not so much, but I think the patterns would appeal to a large number of people!
