Great book beginners to advanced - tables + jigs plans: This is among the best woodworking books I have ever owned. It has very complete instructions for every router operation imaginable and lots of jigs/fixture and table plans to make this a one-stop source for all router info. Also found it very readable - I have to admit I read woodworking books and manuals like others read fiction - this one is well organized and well written. Don't buy any other router manual until you have looked at this one.
A veritable cornucopia of router techniques: Excellent book. It provides DECADES of collective wisdom, tips and tricks that will safely guide you from beginner to experienced router user in no time. It is also a very good resource for general woodworking, joinery techniques and frame and panel construction. I can't emphasize how complete this book is and how valuable it can be to the beginning or experienced woodworker.
best router book available: This book is great from start to finish. Many jigs, drawings and how to's. The horizontal router table design is great. I used this book to speed up intricate wood work by a factor of 20 times. I now use the router , instead of shaping sanding and more shaping and sanding. If you want to do your projects in over one 20th the time and have them come out with closer tolerances then use this book. The router really is an amazing tool!!!!
Motivating: The most motivating woodworking book I own. I bought this book to help with a couple of things I wanted to do around the house. I now have several routers and just can't stop building ... well things. Even when another tool will be more efficient I prefer the router, althought this doesn't keep me from building up my shop. If I could only send the authors my tool bills since purchasing this book (my wife despises the authors). I am a novice and my advice on the breadth and quality of techniques taught in this book should be taken lightly but so far I have been able to do all the techniques taught. They are clearly written and easy to understand. My skills have increased a thousand fold since reading this book, if not because of the information contained in the book certainly because of the motivation contained within.
Great book!! 6 stars...no 10: I have never used a router, (I ordered the Bosch twin deal,- from Amazon, of course- fixed and plunge...not yet arrived) and I bought this book which came first (on Friday night and it showed up on Monday!!! -nice job amazon). I have all of those beginner questions and many were answered in ten pages. Of course, I have many more that I am sure will be answered in the next 300 pp. This book, the writers, are obviously very, very eperienced woodworkers/craftsmen. It is great...better than great. The Taunton press books, are for the most part, a waste of money and time.
