[.ca] Anatomy and Physiology the Easy Way (ISBN 0764119796)

GREAT Introductory book:
Forget what A reader from ROY, WA USA said. That person obviously has no idea what they're talking about. They complain about the 'the excessive cost of the book!' The book is ONLY $14.95 ! For 535 pages! How excessive is that?! This is a great book. Extremely easy to read. It doesn't have everything, but it gives a great overview of all the hormones and what they do, a very detaild explanation of what causes blood to clot (intrinsic and extrinsic pathways) and the best pictures of details of synovial joints anywhere. Each chapter is about 16 pages long followed by about 9 pages of questions. A lot of large print with a lot of white space. This book, together with Anatomy and Physiology (Lippincott Professional Guides), ISBN: 1582551804 , (That is a good small, detailed, well illustrated book) or Anatomy and Physiology (Cliffs Quick Review), ISBN: 0764563734 (An equally small and detailed book, but no illustrations) is all you need.

Worthless!:
I feel ILL when I think of how much I spent on this and how UN-helpful it was. I am a massage student that was kind of panicked about being back in college and intimidated by the amount of information I was being deluged with. I bought this book thinking to review and drill myself on all the possible questions that could come up in tests...et cetera. This book has smatterings of questions you could be asked...samples more than anything. This would be fine it it were not for the excessive cost of the book! What HAS helped me with studying is the Review for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork Certification (ISBN 0-7817-3454-1) by Joseph Ashton & Duke Cassel. For instance, we just finished learning about the Endocrine System which was extermely confusing to me...both the lecture and the material in the text book. When studying for the test, I didn't know WHERE to begin! But I reviewed and memorized the three page secion in the Ashton/Cassel book and I got an almost PERFECT score! Only one question wrong out of 50!

Some of the diagrams are not as accurate:
My overall impression on this book's not too bad, but it may cause confusions if you compare some of the diagrams from this book with other coursewares, especially the cranial nerve section. If you are looking for a book goes really into details with small parts and yet extremely suitable for your university anatomy at an entry level, I would recommend The Anatomy colour book. Beware that the explanation part from the colouring book ain't as good as "the easy way".

Clear, cheap, but not in depth:
Concise, useful, wiht decent, but not the best illustrations. Great if your goal is just to learn the facinating ways our body works. I used it in conjunction with my textbook. The most useful feature is questions and answer section at the end of each chapter (about 50 per each chapter). They were a great barometer of how well I absorbed the material. The problem with the book is that its not very detailed. This book is a great book for someone who is just starting out to study Anatomy. IT's about one third what one needs to know for lets say nursing pre-requisits. Once you have these basics under control, you can build up on them by studying other more detailed books like the one by Marieb that by far more in-depth.

Buy this reference:
This is a good book to be used as a reference for A and P especially if you find textbooks a little too much to read. This book is great for anatomy and physiology students in college. The info is given in a concise, but informative matter. The material in this book is easy to study from. However, I also used the following books which are also available on amazon.com: Anatomy and Physiology Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers with Explanations by Patrick Leonardi (Vol 1) ISBN: 0971999619 (Vol 2) ISBN: 0971999627 If you want to know the kind of questions that most A and P teachers ask on college exams, buy the last two books. ...
