poor binding: I adored the chunky farm books, and ordered several when my baby was small. However, now that my daughter is 17 months and actively looks at books herself, I have found none of the farm books to withstand time. The binding has come off almost all of them. They are great books for sitting on the top of a shelf, but if you hope your toddler to get much use from them, they won't. Sturdy and long lasting they are NOT!--
Too cute!: We love this book! It is just darling! Inside, it is a typical animal counting book with very cute pictures and the requisite repetitive question phrase, "Who can I see?" in this one, that makes these books so familiar, comforting, and reassuring to toddlers. The answer on the last page is dumb and not much of an ending, they didn't put much thought into the story line, but the "play-ability" of the design, in my opinion, more than makes up for it. We are planning on ordering the sheep next.
I am so glad I found this!: This is a FAVORITE book!! I picked this up in a little shop in Portsmouth when my son was 3 months and we need another one now! HE is now 1 and the pages are in pieces because he loved to play with it even more than actually reading it. And he still plays with the broken pages, weird I know...and we have alot of books. I am getting a few more different animals today.
Great book for babies!: My son is nearly 11 months, and this book has been one of his favorites for months. The thick, heavy "pages" are so easy to turn, (easier than a board book) and my baby has a blast flipping back and forth through the book. The story is very adorable although my son isn't quite old enough yet to appreciate it. This is a winner for babies 6 months and up. I'm off to buy a few more of Emily Bolam's "Chunky" books now!
Cute book, awful binding: My daughter (2 1/2) picked up this book at the San Diego Zoo. By the time we left the zoo 2 hours later, the binding had come apart. She LOVES the book and the others like it(cat, horse, rabbit etc.), but it is not a book to play with, but to sit on a shelf and look at, which is too bad for the children.
