don't judge a book by the cover...: i have a few problems with this book. although i do admire the author for his objectives, this book is first and foremost not a cook book (unless you need a recipe for basil pesto, for example). it is a very detailed look at specific fish and their viability in terms of sustainability and health. this is all very fine, but what is very frustrating is that the graphic content of the book is so poor that it really does not do a very good job of capturing or educating the reader. the book is printed on poor paper stock in two colours (mine had running ink on many pages) and the monochrome images are limited to about a dozen photos reused page after page, chapter after chapter......if i want to be better educated about how to choose the right fish, i think it would be very helpful to know what it looks like ! not just the same picture of a tuna or grouper every few pages. the man works as a fish monger - ever bring a camera to work ? however knowledgeable the author is, the book treats recipes and graphic content as a mere after thought, which is a great disappointment. very hard to believe this book won a cook book award (which is what enticed me to purchase). edit: i would add that there are some colour photographs in the middle of the book, but they are not directly related to the written content. some of them are of recipes, some are the same that are printed over and over again in monochrome (as mentioned above).
