Engrossing: This is the second novel I've read that's set in Russia, and I have to say that Starling has put a great spin on Russia, for me personally. It sets your spirits high, only to recieve a back-handed slap from the severe politics. The characters are described exceptionally well, and that's quite amazing considering the number of characters in the novel. Superb read, I'm planning on reading it once more, just to uncover every minutiae detail. I know I haven't gone into fine details about the aspects in the book, but believe me if I stepped into that- well this review would be about three pages long. Take my word, it's a great novel. I highly suggest you read this book, Starling has the touch that most authors have lost. Don't hesistate folks, get Vodka and consume it's every essence!
The underbelly of Moscow: Very readable and suspenseful, 'VODKA' will open your eyes to a lifestyle that you will not find on 'Rich and Famous'. Moscow sparkles and comes alive with beutifully detailed and appealing personalities whom you grow to love, despite the fact that they are flawed in triplicate. But, as most readers know, Russian novels seldom have happy endings, and this one is no exception. I loved the book without reservations.
