Accessible Academic history: Both Coates and Morrison are well known inside Canadian academic circles for their work on Northern history (Land of the Midnight Sun; Taking the North Down With Her). This work builds on those previous contributions. 'Strange Things Done' is easy to read, and is not just a work for other academics. In fact, this book belongs both in the 'True Crime' and the 'History' sections of book stores. Murder is a fascinating topic, and this book is put together in such a way that the reader becomes aquainted with Yukon history through intriguing stories and flowing narrative. One does not have to be an expert in Northern History to enjoy this book - I certainly am not. I enjoyed reading this book, and would recommend it to anyone interested in histories of Canada, the North, or even murder in general.
