[.ca] Canada's Baby Care Book: A Complete Guide from Birth to ... (ISBN 077880156X)

An excellent resource for parents:
Canada's Baby Care Book is a great new reference available to those looking for guidance on caring for infants. The book is up-to-date and filled with color photos to supplement the text. I found it to be non-judgemental and accepting of the notion that there are many ways to successfully raise children. Notwithstanding the opinions of other reviewers, I found the information on infant feeding to be balanced, providing details about the pro's and con's of both breast and bottle feeding. With more than 70% of Canadian mothers feeding their infants formula during the first 6 months (acccording to Statistics Canada), any relevant infant care book must provide information on this feeding option. Overall, an excellent resource for new parents or seasoned veterans looking for more information.

A must-have for any new parent:
This book is a wonderful resource. The thorough and objective paediatric information is complemented by helpful pictures, which makes the information easy to understand. All the issues of baby care, particularly sleeping and feeding, are addressed in a reassuring and supportive way.

Very helpful and reassuring:
As a new mom, I found Canada's Baby Care Book to be an invaluable resource. The information is top-notch and easy to understand - reading it feels like I am having a conversation with my own paediatrician. And unlike other baby books on the market, this one offers a balanced and objective perspective on the many issues of raising a newborn.

Highly recommended:
As a new mother, this book has been my go-to guide. The advice is superb - reading Canada's Baby Care Book feels like I am having a conversation with my pediatrician. Since I am unable to breastfeed, I found the information on formula feeding comforting and straightforward. I also found the pictures and the personal diary components very helpful.

An Invaluable Resource- This is the only book you need:
I received this as a shower gift and now consider this book a must have for any mom. It covers a very wide range of topics and provides significant and detailed information, telling you when you should or should not be worried if you encounter a given problem, condition or illness etc. Afterall, at the end of the day, I want to know if a certain problem is an emergency and whether or not it warrants a trip to the Dr. or to the hospital. I found this to be an excellent reference and I found myself referring to it countless of times late at night. When the Dr. was not available, it was the next best thing. I also like the fact that this book is written by doctors from Sick Kids Hospital and is written in a professional, unbiased, non-opinionated manner. In my experience this is rare, as it seems as though many books/resources are written by "experts" in a very opinionated (sometimes almost forceful), fashion by "preaching" their views and suggesting that following anything but their prescirbed methods and advice will lead to problems, bad habits or behaviours etc. I found this approach to be very stressfull and have put a number of books away for this very reason. As a new parent, it is hard enough "learning the ropes" to good parenting without the added stress. This is the only book you need. I recommend this to every mom as it is clear, concise, and will offer the peace of mind you're looking for.
