Very poor effort: These cards are essentially worthless. If you are expecting to learn anything from them, be prepared to be disappointed. They look like someone went through a medical dictionary and put words on one side and the definitions on the other, which I suspect is what happened. Only very marginally useful as a quick review of material you already know. Very low yield, and unfortunate, as they had so much potential.
The KEYWORDS for pathology: While the flashcards really have minimal material on them, they do contain the ever-useful "key words" for pathology. I have found that knowing the disease process of pathological diseases is helpful, but when it comes to test time, it's those key words and phrases in the stem of the question that are supposed to "give the answer away". These cards contain those key phrases that help you quickly associate s/s with a dx.
Stay Away!: Boo.... on BRS Path flash cards!! If you are expecting the same quality as the BRS Path text, you will be sorely disappointed. These are just your standard flash cards, with a question on one side and answer on the other. No explanation, no detail. For a quality product, try Path Cards, I think it is the same publisher as the quality Pharm Cards.
Great for learning the subtle (but important) points..: I loved these flashcards and they helped me tremendously in learning pathology. It is important to understand that these cards are NOT intended to be a complete review of pathology, which I suspect may be why the other posters were unhappy with them. These cards are NOT meant to be a substitute for more substantial review books (like BRS Pathology) but more to help students pick out the deceivingly subtle but very important "factoids" that would be otherwise difficult to concentrate on by simply reading a pathology textbook, or even BRS Path. The cards are grouped by organ systems (Heart, Blood Vessels, Lung, Kidney, Skin, CNS, etc).
Disappointing: The BRS path book is highly regarded by most 2nd year med students preparing for the USMLE step 1. These flashcards, unfortunately, are barely worth the paper they are printed on. How these two products got paired together, who knows? What a waste!
