[.ca] Journalistic Fraud: How the New York Times Distorts the ... (ISBN 0785261044)

"Journalistic fraud that denies the Wholecaust":
Very good book but could use more info on why the New York Times and the lamestream media will never mention that the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics killed 62 million people; The Peoples' Republic of China killed 35 million; and the National Socialist German Workers' Party killed 21 million (the socialist trio of atrocities). As a lawyer, I would like to know why the media are socialist deniers of the Wholecaust (written of elsewhere). And more info is needed on why the media don't mention the full accurate phrase "National Socialist German Workers' Party" but exclusively use a hackneyed misleading abbreviation. The media use the word "Nazi" to cover-up for the monstrous National Socialist German Workers' Party, in a vain effort to rehabilitate socialism. And any search of the New York Times (or any newspaper's or media's) search engine will show it.

Journalistic Fraud: How The New York Times Distorts the News:
The ongoing public debate on bias in the media has a new entry on the side of "too liberal" with a specific examination of the New York Times. Kohn, an entertainment lawyer, describes himself as a news consumer who has been an avid reader of the Times since the 1960s, and he laments the changes that he perceives in the news coverage. He argues that journalists at the Times do not know how to produce factual leads, they create misleading headlines, and their articles contain distortions of facts. The coverage of the war in Iraq is used to bring a focus to his accusations of liberal bias. Although he is aware that contemporary journalism education explores the complexity of the concept of objectivity, he rejects that approach and insists on impartial news writing. Kohn's methodology cannot prove his argument as his analysis is applied to select articles, mostly from 2002, rather than to a content analysis of all news articles over a specified time period. The entire book is, in effect, an editorial rant directed at the New York Times and should only be purchased by libraries following the debate's back and forth

Incredibly revealing:
This book is incredibly revealing. The NY Times manipulates its readers to a degree unimaginable. They are so blind to their own foibles that the editors themselves are in denial. After you read Journalistic Fraud: How The New York Times Distorts the News and Why It Can No Longer Be Trusted, you will understand that the NYT is pure fraud and deception.

Attack on the liberal press:
Kohn makes no bones about his intention: To castigate what he labels the "liberal" press. His general premise is that editorials can (and should) be slanted and new must be "objective" and "neutral". Unfortunately, his understanding of what "objective" and "neutral" should be, is tainted by a Republican understanding of the world, and according to Kohn, there is no place for a "liberal" press. It is therefore not surprising that he finds no room to complain about distorted reporting by other newspapers or TV News channels, and contents himself to castigating the NY Times. Instead of writing a book to "prove" how liberal the NY Times us in its news reporting, the natural consequence would have been for Bob Kohn to cancel his subscription. It would have saved many readers the agony of his pseudo-analysis and trying to understand what the "World according to Bob Kohn" should be. A big yawn.

"Jealous Fraud":
It states here that Robert Kohn is a "seasoned" exeutive. I wish he were seasoned, sprayed with hot oil, and then roasted on a hot grill. More and more big corporations are buying news organizations and that's Danger with a capital 'D'. They want their news orgs to be profitable, which means that they can't afford to challenge those they cover, for fear they won't get the next interview. America is in press trouble, and headed for disaster if this trend is allowed to continue. Maybe we need a constitutional amendment that states that a 'free' press is only free and held harmless from law suits if it's owned by itself only, and not a non-news corporation. Kudos for the NY Times. Keep on reporting the news that burns the pants off of 'seasoned' exutives of corporations who are changing our 'news' to their propaganda journals. Or maybe Mr. Kohn hasn't read the Washington Times, or the NY Post, or listened to The Palm Beach Drug Addict/Radio talk show host.
